Looked magnificent through Chalk Farm, about 15 minutes late, but worth the wait.

For what its worth she was through Headstone Lane (just north of Harrow) at 08:10. The Northampton train that was due at 08:07 was held behind her.

For the photographists, there is a lovely rake of blood and custards in tow, but she's laying a smokescreen which was drifting to the western side of the line down here.

Any idea what the reason was for the late start?

I'd heard that they simply weren't given the road, don't know whether that's gospel or not though.

40 down through Atherstone, following a LM stopper :(

Coal pusher working hard, nice clean exhaust, seemed to have a bit of a blow from the LH cylinder area.

All lines appeared to be running rather steady, don't know if there's engineering work in the vicinity?

Weather was murky and location poor so tried a bit of videoing on my stills camera ... hmmmmm....

We were late from Euston as the loco was due to shunt to Plat 18 for water, except there was an empty Pendolino in plat 18. By the time that was cleared, 71000 didn't get back onto the train until around 0740.
