    Hmm Didcot twice in a month for me then! Wonder if I can manage one of them without the kids - or maybe take the older one for the launch and the younger one at Easter for the double header when it may be quieter. I can see the launch day for 6023 being heaving especially with the VT tour coming in - that said you can lose a lot of people on that site before it starts feeling crowded.

    It would certainly sell out, but isn't the plan for 6023 to spend all this year with original height chimney, cab and fittings, so ruling her out of mainline work till 2012? Still, an early 2012 double-header on the GWR mainline would be nice, before 6024 heads off for her overhaul!! (And before the overhead power lines are put up :fear:)

    Not sure what 6023 plans are but if we all let the powers that be know that there a lot of us out here that would love to see it happen then just may be it will happen;

    Latest club-6024 newsletter mentions that both 6023 + 6024 will be in steam at Didcot over Easter so that means 2 visits for me too in April!
    Looking on the 6024 website the move from Bristol to Ropley is subject to gauging. Hope she still fits okay. I know she was rather a tight fit on the Guildford - Alton section last time she came down! Fingers crossed..............

    6024 is scheduled to be at Didcot over Easter weekend 23-25 April. Under current plans it will be at the Mid Hants on 2 April.

    And of course it might be possible on 2nd April to nip down to Alton, get a ride behind 6024, then whiz over to the A34, up to Didcot, and get to 6023's launch day :D

    The West Somerset Railway website states that No 6024 will now be visiting there again for the second weekend of its Spring Gala (24-27 March). I thought the loco was already booked to attend the Mid Hants gala that same weekend...??

    What the.........? Perhaps she didn't pass the gauging for the route down to Alton?

    That's a real shame for the Watercress Line if true, they have been really promoting this hard.

    I suppose it makes sense for 6024 to attend the WSR gala instead of the MHR as it only has to travel from

    Barton Hill being nearer. If 6024 came to Alton by rail again there would be 10 m.p.h. restrictions probably at night.

    I for one was looking forward to the arrival via Guildford but maybe another day.
