Just recieved my WTT in the post. 4160 is meant to be covering 34046 first weekend but 4160 has its own rostered turns. I guess 9351 was the spare and that this is actually covering the for Bulleid?

  2. Believe 4160 will cover on the first Sat only. Only duty on first Sun was a doubleheader so 777 will take that train alone. I think.

Also, those planning to use the "get you home" service on the Mondays should note that a bus will replace the DMU. Pick up locations and (correct) pick up times on wsr.org.uk

The Souvenir Programme is available for purchase online

Is it known what the times will be for the Auto off Watchet and any rough times for the heritage freight train during the day?

I should be staying near Doniford from this Friday through to the Monday so intend to sample the WSR on both Saturday and Sunday, i do have a couple of questions though (forgive me if they have already been asked, i haven't had chance to check the entire thread).

    1. Is the Norton shuttle 6430 and Autocoach or it is normal trains top and tailed inbetween arriving and departing Bishops Lydeard ?.

    2. Turning - is the Norton Triangle complete yet so everything is right way ?, if not when using Minehead turntable will loco's be spun 180 degree's for different photo op's or 360 degree's so they are facing the same way all day ?

Thanks for any answers, i intend to buy the programme/timetable on the saturday but knowing this info in advance would help me plan my moves better if possible.

Looking forward to a good gala and hearing 70000's chime.

Edit: answered question one and presumably with the first part of question two, the second part about half or full spins remains however.

Looking at this year's timetable and from previous gala's, engines are mostly spun 180 degree's. The timetable allocations specify which way the engine will be facing.

7812 has been hauling service trains today. The loco has been turned to face Minehead in readiness for the gala.
I hope that the weather is as good for the gala as it was today .....fingers crossed. <BJ>

If you want a programme David you can get buy one on-line I believe if you don't want to wait until you get there! My pre-ordered one arrived through the post the other day (with one of my photos of 30777 on the front which was rather exciting to see!) and it details which way all the engines are facing on each run, I am going to sit down with mine somewhen and work out where I want to be each time as I am on the trains Friday and lineside Saturday and half of Sunday with luck! Very much looking forward to it.

The photo guide above was what I used last year on my first ever visit. I did not get a chance to visit half the locations I had in mind however I got to a few very nice spots, Blue Anchor, both sides of Watchet and Castle Hill near Williton. My photos on flickr from last year are all geotagged so if you like the look of the location you should be able to find it alongside the guide above!

    Hope they help!

Shame... however it does mean one of the quietest locos will be replaced with a bit of GWR thunder

Any news on the timings for Wednesday the 23rd for the frieght and Brit?

    Never mind - Just enjoy 7812 :)

  19. And, by the look of it, for the latter stages of the Gala maybe enjoy 6024 too :)

(but you didn't see me, right?!)

Maybe one of the quietest, but not if you're on the footplate!, but one of the best!
    Incidentally , i'm the fireman on 6430 & autocoach on the 23rd.
