Tyseley Loco Works, home of Vintage Trains and The Shakespeare Express will again have an open weekend on 25/26 June, 2011.

There will be many engines in steam - as many as we can find coal for!

"Rocket" will be in-steam giving rides in period coaches.

We will have as many of our depot engines as possible on display around the turntable. The main workshop will also be open to the public from the viewing gallery, with the progress on 7029 "Clun Castle" clearly visable.

We will also be launching London Transport Pannier L94 in steam in LT livery.

    More updayes to follow!

I hope to make this, these have become a regular and enjoyable event on the calendar. It would be nice, if safe to do so, to have a wheelset in the wheel lathe spinning round every now and then. It's a hulking bit of kit and would be interesting to see in action.

I'm sad to say that we cannot have the Wheel Lathe in action with the public around. We have to be very careful with that machine as you can imagine.

We will try and make it exciting in other ways - how about Western Champion roaming around?

We will have 2 Panniers together on the passenger train giving rides - L94 in LT Livery and 9600 in BR Black.

Its working a Cathedrals Express out and back from London Victoria on Thursday http://uksteam.info/tours/t11/t0623a.htm so I presume heading from Southall to Tyseley on Friday.

Looks lovely going by the photos on the VT website... Although notice no smokebox door numberplate? It's like Pitchford Hall with a crossed livery but the other way round (BR livery and GW bufferbeam).

Passed Tyseley today at 7.20pm. 08 shunter was shunting stock, the Peckett and 9600 were coupled together outside the shed along with 4965 and 5043 all in steam. 6201 was in steam on one of the turntable roads with I think tender and loco separated (as 6201 is too long for Tyseley turntable), another unidentified GW tender loco taking coal on by the entrance and another on a turntable road (5029 and 4936 I guess). Saw no sign of the LT pannier tank - must have been in the shed.http://www.tyseleylocoworks.co.uk/tlw_ods/images103/7752_l94_pn_v.jpg

I went along today - my first visit to Tyseley. Great day and lots of fun - also good to see lots of families and what is basically an enthusiasts event. The cavalcade of two Halls and two Castles at the end of the day was a real highlight )
