Had a smashing weekend down south for the gala, some great laughs on Sunday and a special thanks to everyone concerned.

After travelling up to Crewe to see 70000's restoration progress over the last few years, im delighted at her return to traffic. I think we can look forward to some great main line runs with her in the near future. Some nice vids there Mark to support this!!

Please see links to my two shots from weekend whilst not on the trains.

This on the WSR website now:

'We understand No 7812 has failed (flue tube problem) and will take no further part in the Gala'

Does anyone know which loco will take 7812 duties this weekend?

Particularly interested in its freight working on Friday morning.

Great Photo of 70000, looking forward to seeing her later this week, but does anyone please know why her nameplates have not been fitted?

Also where is 7812 located at the moment?

Since I posted I have read that 7812 is returning to her home railway, does anyone know when that movement will happen?

Thanks in advance for any replies.

Shame. A good engine. Anyone get vids of 4160 going through Stogumber on Sunday?

I would suspect it's likely to be 9351 again as she has no other booked work, but I could be wrong.

70000 is running in the condition it appeared in, when it first emerged from Crewe works on 5 January 1951 (ie plain black, no name). It underwent trials between Crewe and Carlisle in this livery before returning to Crewe works for repainting in lined green livery later the same month. It was named at Marylebone on 20 January 1951 by the Minister of Transport, before going to its first shed which was Stratford on the GE. Jubilee no 45700 Britannia lost its name at about the same time.

So following the historic precedent, I guess that 70000 will perhaps get its name plate when it is repainted into lined green.

I should had guessed that 9351 would do the passengers diagrams for 7812, but I hoped that another loco, perhaps 2807, would do the early morning freight on Friday morning.

    O well, can't have everything!!!

Concerning 7812, would it not have made more sense to have 6024 taking her turns rather than 9351, then have a combination of 4160 and 9351 covering 34046, with exceptions for where 34046 is in a double header? Or is there a reason I am unaware of that means this is unable to happen.

Would someone be able to confirm the changes to the WTT for Thursday and Friday please?

    ie
4160 for 34046 (but 4160 has its own turns on these days)
    9351 for 7812

Also any information when 6024 will run?

    Thanks

I was told by the WSR that 6024 was covering 34046's turns on Saturday (26th). Logical guess is that would be the case for the other days of the Gala

I understand 6024 is doing 34046 turns for the next 4 days.
