I will second that it was a great day, weather could have been better but it stayed dry. It was nearly summer when I left the south of England, but it was decidedly wintery near to Tamworth.

I want to say a huge "thank you" to the crew on JACK LANE that let me take him for a spin round the garden railway, I had missed operating this loco when at the WHHR due to illness, so this enabled me to tick a box next to another 'quarry' Hunslet that I have driven. (Still several more to go... Hint hint any Quarry loco owners.)

If I counted correctly there were 11 locos in Steam, not many places where you can see that number in one go!!! I left just before the line up at the end of the day, but hung round long enough to watch some of the stock being put away, seeing JACK LANE stuff 3 bogie carriages and the brake wagon up the platform road was VOLCANIC, and I chuckled as everyone scarpered when Graham got his forklift out to deal with the mishap with the freight wagons.

There was far too many 'experts' there telling everyone else what to do, I decided it was best to get out of the way......

    Thanks for your comments

For June we should have our Jung 0-4-0T finished and we have a visitor penciled in so that should make 13, maybe 14 with Edward Sholto!

To be precise its a L. Corpet Works No 439 of 1884. It came from a private collection in Spain.

We will be restoring it back to its "as built" condition, photo attached

It was a fantastic day! I would also like to say thanks to the crew of Jack Lane for allowing me to have a footplate ride around the garden. It was also good to finally have a ride in the Rail Land Rover :biggrin1: The Mallet looks fantastic, although so do the rest of the fleet! Isibutu is certainly an impressive sounding beast, it would put some standard gauge locos to shame! :thumb: Here is a link to my flickr page with some pics of the new aquisition http://www.flickr.com/photos/swindonsam/

For those who can be bothered, this pattern of Corpet cab was called a "swallowtail" (queue d'hirondelle). Not much resemblance there to birds, butterflies or, for that matter, erstwhile brands of appalling plonk!

    Henry,

Will any of the other items which were for sale from the private Spanish collection be heading to Statfold?

May I also pass on my thanks to all the Statfold team for a brilliant day, despite the weather. The loco collection and the immaculate condition they are kept in never cease to amaze me. Thank you Henry for getting us in despite the tickets not being posted!!
Thanks to Mr Ingham I managed to have a close look at the new Mallet and it looks to have potential for when it comes over to Wales, but no idea exactly what it will pull yet!! It will be interesting to compare this compound with K1.
Having heard rumours I have an idea what the June visitor will be, though of course I will leave it to Henry to reveal when it is confirmed. However, if it is what I think it is, I will definitely have to consider a return visit already. It will be worth it!
