By the looks of the photo's taken at Crewe, fireman for the outbound run looked as though it was Dean Morris.

I was on the trip and can confirm that Dean Morris fired on the southbound run.

All the footplate crew were well blacked up. All that dust must be a health hazard, I wonder if that was considered when the decision was made not to allow the coal to be watered?

Well its probably a good idea you would only have to aim the hose a tiny bit too far up and...:rip:

Surely the coal should was watered at the Cherry tree water stop before going under the wires?

That's appreciated but from what I've been told, it's not allowed anywhere. I always thought that some tenders were fitted with sprinklers that worked off the injector feed, I know that the Ol49 and Pt used by the Wolsztyn Experience have this system.

I have some photos of the coal being dampened on the Cambrian Coast before the tender first return runs. I would link it but it went with Fotopic so may take a while to find...

Some coal gets washed before delivery, but even watering it down in the tenders it soon dries up on the move, then naturally down the west coast under the 25000v at 75mph the dust wirlwinds around the cab. Hope everyone who travelled was happy and enjoyed it as much i did.
    regards Dean.
