I've just finished putting together the timetables for the period 22.04.2011 - 02.05.2011...

I have, for the first time, combined the two railways in one timetable - formatted in such a way as to give a continuous timeline depiction of arrivals and departures at/from Porthmadog.

This version of the timetables also includes details of the rostered locomotives (as far as they are known at present).

Have fun studying them... Hopefully they won't give you as much of a headache as they gave me..!

    Doh..!

Why is it that you don't spot obvious mistakes until after you've published something.

Apologies, but the PDF attachment above is incorrect - due to my copying someone else's work without properly proof-reading it first (honest...)

Please refer to the attachment below and ignore the one above...

'Generic Driver No.1' - tho' a certain General Manager will no doubt claim it's him.

Can't be Paul Ingham as 'Generic Driver No.1' doesn't have a white beard...

The timetable looks good and the "two in one" works well, must have been a headache putting it all together! Will there be special ticketing like at the vintage weekend and superpower last year?

When does the mallet arrive? I saw it at Statfold and can't wait to see it in action again.

The works are concentrating on engineering as usual...

There will be a leaflet, but not in the form of an enthusiast-biased 'Spotters Guide' - the timetables I have posted here are the free replacement for what would be a very complicated, large, difficult to produce in-house (and therefore expensive) 'Spotters Guide'...

The leaflet will be aimed at the general public giving a simple guide to the location of activities on and around the railways.

Further information on these activities is, of course, available on the F&WHR website - here and here... with more details to be released as they are finalised.

Thank you - luckily I don't have to plan the timetable, just put it into a format that the majority of people will be able to understand... which is much more of a headache than most people appreciate!

There was no (and will not be) any special ticketing arrangement... We use standard tickets for our events. You pays your money and can ride any public train.

You have a choice of a day ticket for one or both of the railways... or one of our discounted Three-Day Rovers - which allow unlimited travel on our railway(s) on any 3 dates of your choice.

There are no 'through' tickets unless you buy a joint F&WHR Three-Day Rover.

As he said above - Tomorrow. The lads from Statfold can't wait to see it in action on the F&WHR either... neither can we!

Just a little query - if standard ticketing is in operation does that mean free travel for members as per, or not?

Member's travel entitlements apply throughout the whole period - with the exception of one train.

So... FRSoc members travel free on the Ffestiniog Railway and at Priv rates on the RhE/WHR - WHRSoc members travel free on the RhE/WHR and at Priv rates on the FR.

The only exception is for travel on the non-stop Blaenau Ffestiniog to Caernarfon special on Sunday 1st May. Society Members travel at Privilege Rate on this train - £17 for the 77-mile round-trip...

Owen, not expected to be - will be... As you know, we don't have a steam locomotive capable of doing the trip non-stop..!!!

...and the timetables I posted at the start of this thread clearly state that this is a diesel-hauled train using 'Vale of Ffestiniog'

    ...and speaking of timetables...

Due to crew shortages and the unavailability of 'Blanche', an updated loco roster (for the period up to and including Friday 29th April) was issued by our LocoCrew Supervisor today.

This means that SBR Mallet №9 will not be running with 'Taliesin' or 'Lyd' on the Welsh Highland Railway...

...but will, in fact, take sole charge of all the RhE/WHR Vintage Trains (up to and including Wednesday 27th April)

While, on the Ffestiniog Railway, 'Blanche' will be replaced by 'David Lloyd George' on Sat 23rd, Sun 24th and Monday 25th (meaning that all four Fairlies will be in service)...

On Tues 26th and Wed 27th, 'Blanche' will be replaced by 'Linda' - making her long-awaited return to service...

For those that are interested, I've attached an updated set of timetables below.

Details of the May Bank Holiday Loco Roster will be updated as soon as the information is confirmed...
