A few pictures of the buffers. After shot blasting, one of the buffer collars looks like a brand new casting!

At Llangollen the four buffers were dismantled for refurbishment during March 2011.

Bogie centre pin casting fitted between front of frames at Llangollen. This casting supports the bogie truck with the two leading wheelsets, one of which is in store at Llangollen.

Brilliant, well were next at the GCR at 11th and 12th June. Im not there that weekend, But Richard Sant will be down both days if your about. Dont know if you have heard but the AGM will be in Derby this year. in 2012 the AGM will hopefully be back at Llangollen as we hope to have the rolling chassis completed by then and we will move it which will be great. So if you cant make it till then that would be a good time to go. Although there is a members day on 4th june this year at llangollen (letters with raffle tickets to be sent out in the post soon) So that might be an interesting day.
    Cheers Gav

That would sound like an intelligent comment if that information wasn't well recorded elsewhere and thus available to them.

Wow, this looks like the 'real deal'. Genuine progress is being made. Kudos to everyone involved. Although I have a fondness for pre-grouping rail, the paucity of pre-Stanier LMS representation is another gap to fill. A Patriot in it's original condition would be a sight!

    Will watch this with interest!

Thankyou. As with most projects we have lots of things in the pipe line and deals to be done with people to move the project forward. Most won't be talked about on here until deals are paid for.and signed. Don't want to ruin the deal before its done. I have one thing i might be able to talk about on here very soon. Need to get authorization first.

Is your name knotty as in the north stafordshire railway. Now i would love to see a nsr loco for a new build on the churnet valley. I also work on p way for them when i can get down.

    Looking forward to the news.

Yes I chose 'knotty' as my name as a bit of a nod to the old NSR. The smaller pre-grouping concerns like the NSR really interest me. I agree about an NSR rebuild for the Churnet Valley - having a period loco to complement their BR Standards, the wartime S160's and the like would be nice if it were possible, and a real drawcard. A rebuild of one of the NSR's many passenger tank-engines would be ideal.

I haven't visited the CVR yet. I'll have to make my way there someday.

Anything to do with the item in SR about TYS offering the Jubilee motion for sale? Will you be in competition with Carnforth (for 5699) or have they got all the motion for Galatea?

No were not in competition with them. yes that is one of the deals. And as it says in the magazine not all the parts are from TYS, some are from another source. ill have to ask if i can say who as its not mentioned in the mag. We will also be spliting the motion down into smaller lots for supporters/members to sponsor. So if there is anything you would like to sponsor drop me a PM or send an email to lms-patriot@hotmail.co.uk

And actually thats not the news i was talking about. Ill try to get some pictures for the news ill update with.

Many thanks for the update. There was, as I recall, a favourite rumour going around that quite a number of parts from "Alberta", the Jubilee that should have been preserved and wasn't, survived and that the pioneers of preservation were involved, including Tyseley. It is rather nice therefore to see rumours with some basis in fact. I just wish I could sponsor a "chunky " piece! Now, where's that Stirling Bomber crated up under an East Anglian airfield?!

I take it that the coupling rods are from 45562 Alberta.
