Great line up. 1000 and a Grid, that's good enough on its own.

Not long to wait now ......
Unfortunately the Bird's Nest Buffet coach was found to need more extensive refurbishment works than expected so is taking longer to restore. Therefore it will not be back in time to provide those essential Bacon Butties during the Diesel Gala. Apologies to all non-vegans affected!!
However, any monies saved by going without Bacon Butties might be used, perhaps, to help purchase an elusive secondhand DVD or book from the augmented sales stall at Corfe Castle station.
Swanage looks forward to welcoming you!

Well, am I embarrassed - YES! Sincere apologies for unwittingly misleading readers. I've been informed that our Wessex Belle kitchen car is being opened specially each day to cater for the needs of Non-Vegan visitors.
Hot bacon or sausage baps will be prepared by the Wessex Belle catering staff at Swanage's Platform 1 [just further along from the current buffet car] from 0930 until 1330 on all three days.

    Latest line up:
    Home Fleet - D6515/33103
    Visitors - 37503/D1062/D9009/56301/73136/73*** GBRf and 3 CIG No. 1498.

Newly outshopped 33035 suffered problems whilst being towed en route from Barrow Hill, apparently, and has been sidelined at Soho EMU depot. WCRC's 57601 is hauling the remaining 37503/D1062/D9009/56301 to Swanage.
D6515 is scheduled to haul 73136 and 73*** from Eastleigh to Bournemouth depot, where it picks up the 3CIG, and then on to Swanage. This forms its loaded test train requirement prior to re-instatement on the main line register.

Just to let you know that, apart from the previously reported problems with 33035, the following all arrived safely this afternoon:
    D6515 BR Green
    73 136 Transmart Trains Green
    73 205 InterCity
    3CIG BR Green
    37 503 EWS Red/Yellow
    D1062 BR Maroon
    D9009 BR two tone Green
    56 301 Fastline Grey
57 601 WCRC Red [will reside in Swanage Sidings during the Gala and should be readily viewable from passing trains (look left after leaving Swanage)]

Of course 33 103 is in BR Blue

Incidentally one of Swanage Railway's dual braked TSOs is scheduled to be added to the 3CIG on some trips to increase capacity.

Tremendous thanks to all the loco owners/crews and everyone who attended. Hope an enjoyable time was had by one and all. As one of the Conductor Drivers I had a great time.
Much sympathy to the 33035 team for all their hard work at Barrow Hill ending with it sidelined at Soho depot. Hope they can get the bearing(s) fixed very soon.
Believe it fair to say that the 6th Annual Diesel Gala was the most successful ever. Provisionally it appears that almost 3,000 passengers travelled during the three days - an increase of over 30% on 2010's numbers. Catering did a roaring trade and needed several extra trips to the kitchen car preparing additional supplies of filled rolls. Such was demand that the massive supplies of bacon rashers ran out by mid Sunday morning [so I had to 'make do' with a sausage bap for my lunch]. LoL
Let's hope there's another Gala next year!

Thanks to all who attended, be they Swanage volunteers, visiting loco owners/reps, and of course the passengers parting with their hard-earned. As Peter says, the figures are quite exceptional and there is no doubt it has been the most successful diesel gala since we started doing them.

I had 2 days shunting up at Norden, finishing up with a shunting turn at Swanage; anyone would think I like running round like a lunatic!

Good to meet up with you too Nick, although I'm not so sure about the football...!

    Managed to get my videos together of this superb event;

Some good clag from most of the locos,37503 being particularly good after a prolonged period in storage. The Deltic was awesome and as usual, Western Courier gave me my fix of Maybach music. Enjoyed the Cromptons, it seems a lifetime away when they used to be all over the network, and such a great sound. The EDs are a favourite as well,in fact everything that run was!
