It all depends on how you interpret Mr Lawson's txtmsgs... but the first of the two texts clearly said 'Lyd' and 'Tal' taking over No.9's WHR duties - with 'Lyd' doing morning FR Vintage / afternoon WHR Vintage, while 'Tal' does morning WHR Vintage / afternoon FR Vintage.

So if you replace 'Merddin Emrys' with 'Lyd' on the Tues/Wed morning FR Vintage Train, you save one loco crew and have a 'spare' loco...

...or not, as the case may be, depending on 'David Lloyd George's diagnosis...

Paid a short visit yesterday, took a video of 87 coming up the valley to Rhyd Ddu, uploading at the moment, then had time to get back to the station and have a run to Pont Creosor and back. Fantastic weather, reasonable loading, very friendly staff.
Sorry to hear that Owen was taken ill on Saturday, hope it's nothing serious.

Video from yesterday. Shooting at that distance is a bit ambitious but it seemed a pity to waste the spectacular scenery.

How serious is the hot box? Is the Mallett likely to be running again for this coming weekend?

I believe that the Timmy Mallet will be returning to Statfold to have some remedial work done on the axel and axel box.

The Mallet is going home for the work to be done in time for the SBR June event, but should be returning after that.

Is there much confidence that Palmeston will run on Saturday as last week it seemed to be that it had to be taken oput of the roster due to the dry weather conditions. I am not sure about North Wales but there has ben no rain since in my part of the British Isles.

'Palmerston' has been cleared for traffic following attention to its spark arrestor - which had failed its 'fitness to run' test and caused the loco's withdrawal from the roster last week...

...but, of course, everything is 'in the lap of the Gods' and NO loco roster can be guaranteed (on this or any other railway)

    Thanks...

First one is along the footpath through the forest which runs from the lower to upper lakes at Tan-y-bwlch at the foot crossing, the second one is at the road bridge to the west of Tan-y-bwlch, up the side of the road cutting.

The Tan-y-bwlch bridge shot is my favourite location on the line. I never get tired of going up there for photos. Strictly a morning location though on a sunny day.

Has anyone got any photos of the vinatage train running on the WHR yesterday with Taliesin? We were on it, and a photo would be a nice reminder. Thanks, Iain

Thanks, I got a few at the station stops too. One from Aberglaslyn would be good - quite a few photers about. Cheers, Iain
