The smokebox looks that way more because it's been stood outside in the pouring rain for 3 hours.

Good photos Steve. It's not easy to get good one's in the theatre, I've tried many times. Nice to have met you.

Just a quick update. The T3's Tender and GER Saloon were loaded up yesterday, and No.563 was being loaded on a truck today at Roundhouse Park here in Toronto. I will post some pictures tonight of the loco being loaded, I was able to swing by the park between meetings for my day job.

She is en route to the CNR McMillan Yard in Vaughan Ontario, where the consist will be loaded on flatcars for the trip to Halifax and the voyage home to York or Shildon (i know not to which she is returning).

I can honestly say, she has been a fantastic addition to our park for the summer, with many many people both young and old being wowed by her good looks when outside on the turntable before and during the Railway Children performances, and in the past couple of weekends, for the lucky few who managed to catch one of the working volunteers doing restoration work on Saturdays to get into the stalls with a guide to see her. While we are happy to have some more space inside the stalls back with her departure for our own equipment's restoration work, we will definitely miss having her around!!

    Cheers,

Thanks for the update. 563 is destined for York, so I'm led to believe, for an assesment of the paintwork to see if it can be rescued. Thank you for keeping a watch on her movements, and we're obviously delighted that she's been a interesting attraction. Best Regards.

The sad part is, i'm going to beat her to York then!!! I'll be there on the 26th for a flying visit to the NRM and to the City with my girlfriend who has never been to York before!!

Now that would have been fantastic, to have seen her on both ends of the trip, but not to be!!

That's a shame. I'll put some photos up for you when 563 arrives here. Also, if you're coming to the NRM during Monday 26th, call by the paintshop. I'll be about there somewhere.

Pity you could not fire up 6213 and give her a shove ! -- thanks for sharing the photos -- see you have a Rogers Centre in downtown TO . - we have one in Vancouver as well.

    Cheers Richard ( BC).

Richard, rather off topic, but how is the 'Hudson'? I was in Vancouver in 2000 and I think she was under overhaul then. Took the train to Squamish which was hauled by a freight loco of some sort.....

The Squamish trains no longer run regularly. 2860 has a 3 year boiler ticket which expired earlier this year. She now needs a complete boiler overhaul as last time she just had the equiverlent the likes of 6233 got at 7 years. She now needs a full 10 year doing (15 years of 1475 days which ever soonest in US not sure about Canada) which will be expensive for a much smaller and more geographically wide spread organisation than we are used to, that and the near by host Main Lines are not very willing to host steam runs anymore so it may be a long time to get her going again

Re: LSWR T3 4-4-0 exported to Canada

Boiler Overhauls in North America are a much tougher ask because of the very issue noted, we don't have nearly as big a steam scene, and often populations are very dispersed within the membership of groups. I'm sure Richard(athelney) who is a member of 2860's support crew can fill anyone interested in the Hudson's status, i know there used to be an update thread where he was posting news on her in the International Sub Forum.

And yes, many North American Class 1 Railroads have zero interest in letting steam locomotives about their tracks and interrupting their freight traffic. They'd sooner let passenger trains run, and they are loathed to allow that to happen unless forced to!!
