I'm pleased to see the tour has now been removed from their web site, well done RTC.

I think I'll get this quote framed; some praise for the Railway Touring Company - unbelievable.

For those who seek to complain about RTC and advertising on this forum .....

We get your message but continuous bleating on here will do little to change things and alienate those on whom we so much depend . I'm sure RTC would appreciate any offer of help to make things better and a proactive response may be a much better received one

Please can we now move on

RTC have written to all passengers offering transfer to new date, transfer to another tour or a refund. The issue is with Peak Rail & Network Rail not sorting the paperwork for the new connection, not a fault of RTC and the whole point of the tour was to traverse the new connection to Peak Rail. I don't see how what more RTC could have done! If you don't like the new details transfer or have a refund, end of. Personally i'll stick with it as I was due to run behind 70000 15 years ago and it was withdrawn early for overhaul and 48151 (& a cl47) substituted...better late than never!

Can I also add that the new schedule shows steam all the way back to London rather than coming off at Derby or Leicester, so you actually get more steam mileage for your £.

The connection to Peak Rail at Matlock is now done, but rumoured that Britannia will come off at Derby, any news anyone?

Unofficial "gossip" sites saying that steam loco off at Derby and two Class 31's through to Matlock. Only a rumour though

Why post it then until the motive power north of Derby is confirmed one way or the other?

In the 2nd version of the 2011 tours brochure it says this run is with 60019 and has no mention of 70000.

This train is now shown as CANCELLED on uksteam.info. I have no idea as to the reason for the cancellation at such relatively short notice or indeed if it is a true cancellation or just a further postponement. Time will tell.

As West Coast are a big TOC, with many rakes of stock available, I can’t see how a problem just over 2 weeks before the tour would have this big of an effect.
