On that timetable the "Loco Duties" would seem to indicate that only 3 locos are in use in each day?

    There are 4 locos each day; 30585, 473, W24 & W8.

Will Island Line be stopping after 1633 at Smallbrook Junction? I really need to know this or else there would be no point in me going all that way.

It is normal practice for local arrangments to be made with Island Line whenever there is a requirement for later stops at Smallbrook Junction, they probably don't get swept up in national timetable information.

You could always ring the IWSR to confirm - 01983 882204. Or come 'at risk' and spend the evening in the Real Ale bar if it all goes horribly wrong, then get a taxi to Ryde later on.

You will not be the only one stranded if they do not! I am doing a day trip from Brighton and hope to head home after the 2nd to last trip to Smallbrook on Saturday, which is after the last scheduled Island line train. Trains run through the station 2 an hour (28 and 48 past the hour departures from Brading) into the evening so lets hope they stop!

Thanks for that. Ringing them would be the best policy of course - why didn't I think of that?

Looking forward to this; I'll be there on Saturday with my all-in ticket. A mate and I are making a day of it from Swansea, so if we miss the train we need, then my finely-tuned plan of logistical excellence would fall apart like a pack of cards. At the moment I'm planning on making the 17:47 catamaran from Ryde to Portsmouth, so may have to suffer(!) an hour in Ryde if the Island line doesn't come up trumps. I may ask the guard if there are any plans to do so on the day so I know where we'll stand. I'm also looking forward to a pint of Goddards- three years since my last visit has been too long!

A nice location with a nice locomotive and coaches. A beautiful collection.
The weather somehow dates the images. You don't always need the sun. <BJ>

Thank you for your kind comment :) Very true about the sun although a little bit on Saturday would of been nice as I did not bring a coat and was cold all day!

A selection of my photo's from Saturday, and a three taken on Tuesday morning when there was some sun, before my Ferry home, can be found at http://paulsimpson.zenfolio.com/p373020653 The slide show is the best option to view.

The trains were very busy on the Saturday difficult to find a seat. Thanks to all the IOW staff and volunteers
