Does anyone know if 34046 Braunton will grace the main line on 9th July with a non stop run from Waterloo to Southampton and then onwards to Weymouth.

34053's tender is now complete apart from lining-out and the application of transfers. It has now been moved to Swanage shed to await completion of the locomotive. Further work has been done to the new smokebox.

Not quite true, it requires a full paint as its in under coat at present.

Component removal of 34105 Swanage is continuing at Ropley with the boiler casing being removed last week.

Yes, with hindsight I should have picked up on the fact that it would be stupid to keep a fully painted and varnished tender idle for a few months while the locomotive remains incomplete. It was a case of it looking green in the picture, and so I thought that it would be finished with a couple of coats of varnish. I stand corrected. Anyway, the point being a new update on the SLL site for those interested and have not seen nickt's update post on the 80078 thread.

I asked the same question on another thread as I am on this trip. Didn't get an answer though. One of the SD stewards who I saw at the MHR a few weeks ago said it might not be 34046 on this run.

I think it would depend on what still needs to be done with the tender and when a test run or two can be organised. I hope she makes it back before then.

Reading Railway mag yesterday I see there is an advert by Visions International selling a new DVD all about Bulleids in 21st Century. Looks like this could be a must for all Bulleid fans. Anyone going to dig deep in to their pockets and buy a copy.

Looks tempting, but strangely when you click 'add to cart' the price comes up at £18.75 and not the £19.95 it says on the main page...?

34007 ticket running out in 3 years. I thought it first steamed around 2007, which would give it at least another 6 years, i.e. to 2017 ??
Also, 92212 in a further 2 years ? That re-entered traffic in 2009, so should go on till 2019 surely ?!

It is the date on which the boiler is first steam tested that usually starts the clock ticking. This may be some time before the completed loco is first steamed.
