I am constantly amazed at what you can find on Youtube that is of real historical value. Something that at the time seems so trivial yet can give gimpses of a world that has since changed dramatically.

What's the current status of the Southwold? I'd heard they'd fallen on hard times.

They held an exhibition in Southwold at the beginning of May at which, as I was in the area, I had a look at.
They are currently preparing to submit plans for a site adjacent to the old station site at Wenhaston. A purchase of land is envisaged, at an agreed price, and an exhibition, with details of the plans for a Heritage centre, is to be held at Wenhaston Village Hall on 3 July,
Have a look at the website and check the blog!

OK it's a pretty poor match to the thread title but another gem I found in the archives is passing the Lynton and Barbstaple station in 1898, shame there is no train waiting in the platform as everything was brand new.

The joint station is passed at 1:12

You make it sound like the footage of the Standard Gauge is worthless! What a priceless view of the Victorian Railway - the trackbed looks so different to what we are used to.

Only because it's in the NG section... It's a gem from all angles, std gauge, NG, clothes etc. As I said earlier dig in Youtube and what you come up with is an amazing insight in to how the world used to be.
My interests are in all facets of Engineering and what you can find is remarkable. All in the space of a few clicks. To someone who spent hours in libraries and field surveys it opens a whole new dimension to research.

I missed that. Generally searching the website through the 'what's new' section I generally have no idea where a particular thread is!
