Looking at the Museums Association website, I found this:

"The Hayden Princess in a 1901 Marshall 7hp, 11 ton general purpose traction engine (No. 36033) manufactured at the Britannia Iron Works, Gainsborough in Lincolnshire. It spent its working life as part of the road building equipment used by Hertfordshire County Council. It is in working order with a boiler certificate valid until July 2011. The museum hopes that the sale of the Hayden Princess will result in transfer to a museum that can provide proper standards of care and access; currently the Hayden Princess cannot be viewed by the public as it does not fit in the museum building. For more details contact the Director at Dorset County Museum on 01305 262735 or e-mail jon@dorsetcountymuseum.org"

More details here, but you need to register (free) to read it:

That look like a thinly disguised spending cut - at least to me!

I think I'm right in saying that said item was sawing wood at last year's GDSF? so it certainly is not always out of sight!

As if by magic, a link to David Collidge's website to confirm it!
