According to another forum, it appears that 92212 is to receive the tender from 73129, following a most unfortunate development with the latter locomotive

Why, what's wrong with 92212's tender? It was perfectly fine when it was at Ropley - idle speculation?

73129 - cracking to the outer firebox meaning it has been withdrawn from traffic so the tender is spare. I also heard though that the tender was going to be loaned to run behind 92212 but have no idea why especially after reading the above post Certainly has it's own tender at the SVR, Anyone know anymore?

Black prince is coming to the NNR. It is getting another tender due to its own not being ready. Probably where the confusion has come from

Everyones getting confused! as far as i know there is nowt wrong with 92212's tender. As Will correctly points out above, its 92203 Black Prince needing the tender off of 73129. BP's tender has never had a major rebuild so its now 50 years old. its having new tyres (old ones were on scrapping limit) whilst i hope the tank has some repairs - its all original. The coal space used to spring leaks and when firing you ended up with half a shovelfull of coal and halfwater! make the most of it 03 has always had the small style tender.

Chris I can assure you it is not a windup. Heard this from someone who works down at the MHR. I just posted on here to see if it was true or not.

    But it is hearsay though.

Trouble is a lot of the time we hear interesting facts and news items from yards, station staff and sometimes just the general public. The problem is much of the time it either isn't true or ends up not happening for whatever reason!

The other problem is the responses you got from asking if a rumour was true. Instead of it being confirmed or denied in the first responses, you got people saying 'it's not the first time'. Which then gives the slight impression there is strong truth in it.

Point taken Kieran. I am hoping it is hearsay though.

Well, it seems to be a hire engine at the MHR, and they do move around - as evidenced by the presence there of 5224 after a few years on the NYMR and elsewhere before that.

As a member of the MHR Loco and Traffic department, I have never heard anything about her not coming back, as far as everyone down there is aware she will be returning come september, unfortunatly not in time for 73096's last weekend, if the Five makes it till then that is!! however 92212 should be back for the Autumn steam gala. :D

That sir is exactly what I heard from someone who is almost as high as one can go.

That said there is about 3 months between now and the Autumn Gala.

    Best regards

Yes, to be honest, as a member of the SVR loco department, I am fairly sure the MHR are getting her back, or else they may want the tender spring back that they sent us after one went "Ping" last week!

But did you know 73096 failed this weekend with a broken value ring. Thankfully we had a nice blue class 33 to hand.

I'm intrigued as to why a forum (which is an playground of speculation ) would provide a definitive answer , unless either the railway or owner as members would like to confirm or deny

I surely did, I was there! and obviously thank heavens for the "nice blue class 33" it would have been an even nicer class 33, she was due to be cleaned!! Blooming steam engines ;) although, I do belive this to be 73096's first failure whilst not on shed for a while now, shame, still she'll be out by next saturday, mark my words! She'll be back!! ;)... hopefully!
