The last working steam on BR is well documented.

What about the last non-working steam on BR ?

What were the last steam locomotives moved from sheds / sidings etc to scrapyards of BR works for scrapping ?
What were the last locomotives scrapped by a BR Workshop or by private yards (I know of 4156 / 92085 at woodhams).. were there many around in 1969 (except woodhams ?) or was it all over already ?

How long were engines dumped after 1968 or sitting in yards before being disposed of ?..

I'm interested as I noticed it took until 1970 for bulk departures from Woodhams.. did it take two years for word to spread / get organized or where there other pickings elsewhere ?

I'm fairly certain that this subject was covered on the Forum a couple of years ago but I can't find it using Search. Someone better acquainted with the system may well be able to.

Another question would be when was the last movement by rail from Woodhams of a scrap engine destined for preservation?

I would say the mid 70's, probably either to the SVR or Didcot. After then, due deteriorating condition (& the "borrowing" of parts) it was deemed unsafe to move them on the main network.

Last rail movement from Barry was in 1976. Locos were 3822 and 5029, which went to Didcot.

It is quite possible that 1968 was the last time when steam loco's were moved from BR Property to scrapyards. Barry received 41312, 47327, 48151, 48305, 61264, 73129, 76077, 76079, 76080, 79084 & 91121 in that year. There were probably movements to other scrapyards as well in that year.

Slight typos there ;), 76084 and 92212 were the last in your list!

    Very Best Wishes,
    Bob.

Not scrapped but according to this link Jinty 47564 remained at Manchester Red Bank (as stationary boiler no. 2022) until 1972.

The last engines moved from a BR depot for scrap were 44894, 45017 & 45388 from Lostock Hall on 28th April 1969.

80002 form Polmadie to the KWVR must have been quite a late move too, but I think that the 5s mentioned above (To Drapers, Hull?) were the last scrappers. The LT and NCB ex GWR Panniers that were scrapped in the 1970s all seem to have been moved by road.
