I have no connection with the MHR but that seems to be a ridiculous over-reaction.

What a pity that people are so sensitive. Sarcasm couldn't have been further from my mind, I was just thinking of the rumour about the 9F a couple of weeks ago which sparked off when that loco was despatched to SVR for the summer. I haven't looked to see where the comment started, and frankly it doesn't matter. I wasn't, and wouldn't, make a personal point in open forum.

I'm not "hiding", but neither do I need to use my name. If I wanted to make any personal points, I wouldn't use this forum, so it really doesn't matter whether I stay incognito here or not. I choose to remain annonymous because it allows me to express views without them being taken as a statement of anything more than my own, personal, thoughts.

Sensitive? , I think not. It just seems a pity that people are not allowed to reply when someone makes a statement.

In the nicest possible way we all have our own views and should be able to express them and reply, so why are their people out there that cannot take critiscism when they have made a sarcastic comment? , is this a control freak thing?

    Best regards
    Chris

Anyway, its great to hear that 45379 is going for a short visit back to its first preservation home on the AVR.

I remember seeing it as a kit of parts at Bitton in 1986 and thinking what a great engine it would be for the MHR, as progress seemed painfully slow at that time.

Little did i think that my private wish would ultimately come true!

    Hi Chris,

It’s easy for this member to be negative about our posts. I don’t under stand why he replied to my post in this way. No one would come to the conclusion that 45379 is staying at the AVR for a long period of time.

    Ps
Chris I would like to congratulate you and your team on how great the MHR wagons are looking. You must have one of the best rake of preserved wagons in preservation now. Please could you put an update on the forum at some point about the MHR wagons.

Given the fact that what happened the last time 73096 had a cylinder problem, the initial post by coal wagon was vague and not helpful. Hence my question, which was answered by 21B. I would suggest that you both get/add more information to your posts.

Great to see 73096 in steam this weekend and 34007 Wadebridge had a warming fire in her.

Having just read Mid Hants News from cover to cover (as usual), there's a few things that stood out for me.

The acquisition & erection of the Kings Cross footbridge ( I wonder if it will have to be in LNER colours) at Ropley, thats certainly going to put a new angle on things (be nice if it could happen before the autumn gala - but I can wait!)

The cladding of the workshop extension to look like Eastleigh drawing office, expensive - but necessary, it will certainly add to the ambiance at Ropley.

Chris Le Corney's 'attempt' to breathe life into the good formation, I for one hope he succeeds with this as it will certainly bring the goods train to life and add to the authenticity on the line and it would certainly make the MHR unique in its offering - (photo charters will love this) I'm surprised that no ones thought of this before ( I dont recall any other lines offering this with their goods/freight trains) Good luck Chris, I hope you pull this off!

    So well done MHR!:thumb:

    Yes there is.

They're going to put the "new" one at the London end over the running line, head shunt & yard!

It will certainly offer something very different and will be 'shoving room only' at Gala's!

Not being able to remember it at Kings Cross, I wonder what the load capacity is/will be once it's re-erected? Will a limit on the number of people on it at any one time have to be introduced?

Thats an interesting point, I vaguely remember it a the Cross ( will have to dig out my photo's) - it certainly would never have had that amount of weight/footfall on it at any one time as it wasnt there for Joe Public ( it linked the offices on either side of the station) - I'm sure the building Dept @ MHR will fit serious hard wood boards, and before WE get to use it it will have undergo acceptance tests for insurance purposes:yo:
