On behalf of Chris Beet and the Engineering Team, I would like to vigorously deny that ANYTHING is wrong with the boiler. The loco was lifted yesterday to begin sorting the horns, but there are NO issues with the boiler whatsoever.

The cracks that will delay the loco are the publicly announced ones on the horn blocks last week, which have required the loco to come off its wheels. No issue with the boiler at all. I trust that this wil put a full stop to this part of the debate.

You have now had the truth from the "horse's mouth" so to speak. I don't know what the gutter press are talking about, look at recent events about a Sunday newspaper which sums the press up.

Thanks for the update Anthony. I was about to post that the NRM announcement of the 7th July didn't mention anything about boiler problems. It's good to see this latest rumour ended!

Seconded - the rumour mill is way too active sometimes, you only have to scan the claptrap traded about Tornado to see that. Sometimes we all need to take a pull and wait until an authority, such as Anthony, pronounces, to hear the facts. Perhaps those who are close to some of these projects could seek them out and post them here?

Things seem to be progressing with the loco lifted yesterday to remove the wheels.

Not seeking to cause trouble, but who did you speak to at NRM please? The release went out about the frame cracks last week and it is possible that someone has got confused, but it would be useful to know so the record can be put straight.

Us mods are a very studious, quiet bunch, noctural and lesser spotted, well known for reading books backwards, adding up locomotive numbers looking for hidden meanings..or anagrams of locomotive names for subliminal messages, we are aged by the holes in our socks.. Some of us have gathered in various places (a quick pub tour round London when the Northern mods were deposited in kensington Olympia by 6201 a while back), and another communal gathering in Froghall last november.
Maybe we could be persuaded to appear for a "throw a tomato at a mod contest" if a donation was given to say the GWR appeal perhaps ? :)
I am often found at Plat 9 Victoria, platform 2 at Clapham, other known haunts are Wandsworth rd and Stratford station, when there's something steamy going on..

Humour... ever seen Dr Spock laugh ?

whats this got to do with Scotsman.. I blame it all on 60097 :)

Enuff fun for me.. back to reading the 1967 edition, 2nd reprint of the Greater London yellow pages.

Oh aye,:mmph: I know of a certain Mr.White who is making threatening noises about cross border raiding parties to MY wonderful bit of land to do a bit of pillaging. Nowt too "studious" there.
:focus: and a bit less humour :peace:

There is a test train booked around the carnforth circuit on the 28th July, however the train is originating from Bury and then off to the NRM upon completion. Could this be for the scotsman? I have the full times if anyone is interested.
