Would it be nice to have a gala where nothing runs?

We thought about having a 1970s gala once - staff could be rude to what few passengers there were, and then go on strike on the second day ... Can't think why we didn't go for that one :)

How about a family-centered gala, as it appears the school holidays are upon us again!

I went to a pork pie gala once, but I got egg on my face.....

A gala where nothing runs? I can think of a few railways that fall into that category.....

how about a gala to commemorate one of the National Rail Strikes? You could have a Flying Pickets mock battle with the SS if you werent too worried about authenticity!

Around 1974 / 75ish due to some incident, several societies were told they could steam their locos, but not run any trains. I was a member at the Avon Valley at the time and no one stopped us, (we diddn't have much of a line then), but some of the pres lines inSomerset were prohibited from doing so.
Anyone know the full story please?

Sounds a bit like some of the original SVR station galas at Bridgnorth...!
