Had a ride down to Wakefield Westgate to see Mr. Rileys mighty 5. Very well turned out and well loaded. Most of you will not know that HMP Wakefield (top security nick) is next to the station and after the 5's performance struggling away from the uphill standing start, the inmates were inconvenienced and disturbed from their slumbers.
Bye 'ell, that 5 is a fine machine, it dug deep ( a bit of very skillful handling) and got the heavy train away, eventually, in fine style. :thumb:

A plethora of "human rights claims" then :)

From info from gen gen groups it seems there is some major signalling failure around the Leeds area and 1z24 has a high chance of being capped at York! We'll see, you know what gen groups can be like.

Shot a video this lunchtime of the train passing Bolton Percy for Colton jcn and unlike last weeks almost silent movie of the Flyer - this one has Loco noise (well apart from the first few seconds !)

Next week I will go to Wrenthorpe, but tonight went down to Westgate to see 5407. Lots going on because of power failures I think and the stopper to Huddersfield was cancelled due to a signalling problem!
Anyway, the SSE was on time and just as enjoyable to watch as last week.

    Afternoon all

I wonder if anyone could tell me how likely it is that I will be able to buy a 'walk on' ticket for the circle on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning? Confused also by the fare - WCRC website says £19 but then the minimum booking fee is £2.75 - does that apply to the walk on fare as well?

The train last week was moderately accommodated from what I'd seen so I don't think you'll have too much trouble...

What will your detractors make of it I wonder !

Aren't our modern railways messy , all that fencing and abundant foliage

I'm sure they'll find something.

That area of Leeds is a disgrace when compared to the modern city in the background.

You beat me to it Martin, I was going to complain about the total lack of recognisable 'Stuart' features. I thought for one moment someone else had hacked into his account to post a spurious shot....:tape:

Thanks for the advice - had a ride around the new circle yesterday evening - fare was £18. Have to say that I didn't enjoy this loop as much as the Harrogate one - some slow running and a lot of waiting for signals. I'm sure WCRC know their market though as their were a lot more families decanting than I recall in previous years. Lovely noise from 46115 coming out of Wakefield.
