I think I will be doing 3ft gauge steam in Colorado during this Gala. In all honesty, I'm not that sorry if I miss it. I like the SVR as a GWR branch line with locos to suit. Nothing from the Caledonian Railway or King Class locos would have been seen on the line \nd I don't get excited about them

YAY! It seems this loco runs every gala on full line trains!! We get a break from it at last! Nothing against it, nice loco and suits the line well.

The SVR is one of my favourite railways, however It was very off putting to find
    a. the one and only non-stop of the gala weekend I went to.. was a Manor going tender 1st on LMS coaches... when they had 5029, 70013, 60007 and 71000 as other attendees to pick from !
    b. the scheduled freight ran as 5029 on 1 syphon van.

When we had 71000, 5029, 60007, 70013 and 7812 running was the March gala which to my knowledge has never had all night running. The freight this year I am lead to believe will be a full length freight. 2857 is due to appear on the freight.

Will it get split again this year? I thought that was an excellent addition to last year's gala with all the shunting that went on and added something extra to the gala.

I'm not sure about it being split. When the WTT is published we will know. I have heard, not trying to give too much away is both 2857 and 92212 will both have turns on the freight.

No worries, my WTT is on order so will find out in due course. Just as I said, altering the freight from the whole set, to just the vans, and then just the flats and back to the whole set over the weekend brought something extra in my opinion, and was great to see.

Yes, and deary me Glyn you need to learn about the SVR before you come :p

There is a pub on the station at both Bridgenorth and Kidderminster, and all the sets have a bar car or trolley service available selling the SVR's range of ales (Hagley and Pig are the best).

I arrive in Bridgnorth Sept 22 and leave Sept 26th for York and Scotland, so i shall be around on the 23rd.

Come now Glyn, i live half a world away and even i know that the best part of an SVR Gala is changing trains at the end of the line so you can pop into the station bars for a quick pint!!! ;) I suspect that i will spend some time Friday and Saturday evenings in one or both of the King&Castle or Railwayman's Arms whenever i need a break from relentlessly riding the trains and photographing the action.

GWS are now reporting that King Edward II wil NOT be available for either the SVR or GC galas due to problems during running-in at the MNR
