Although the owner has changed the former owner acts as "caretaker" for 34067 out on the Main Line.

Great news about the N2. I don't think I have ever seen her before.

This is not and never was intended as an LNER themed event, it was simply a collection of excellent and available guest locomotives to add to our already impressive home fleet. Because SNG is unable to attend does not mean we must seek an LNER replacement, although we have secured the N2 as an addition, which we hope will be met favourably.

A replacement for SNG is being sought and you will hear about it first on the MHR website over the coming 2 months, so watch this space.

As for the Std 5 weekend and the comments regarding passenger turns, the comments have been heard and this is being looked into. Again, once confirmed, an announcement will be made on the MHR site. We do listen, but just because you don't see any action doesn't mean nothing isn't happening. We have not had the time to look at this as we are pre-occupied with over more pressing events.

It's Friday night, the BBQ has been lit and I'm going to have a beer.

It's good to see another reliable source (Mr Beere) join the forum!

Yes indeed, I am looking forward to seeing this engine on the MHR and eagerly await news of which loco will replace SNG.

    Enjoy!

Same here unless she was at Loughborough in the early 90's in steam. I went there but I'm too young to remember what happened butr she's a great looking loco especially in GNR Apple Green. With 1744, 60163, 70000 with another to come its going to be a great gala.

It's good to hear from you Tim. I think the N2 will be very favourable. Hope you enjoyed the BBQ and beer!

Actually I did see her but in many bits around Loughborough shed during a visit some years ago to the GCR (on a railtour with 35005 from the MHR via a bus connection).

I had an inkling that might happen!

If you think about it, both the N2 and the A4 are at Swanage next month, and as the N2 was already heading for MHR metals, it makes perfect sense to get the A4 as well.

All I know is that it is going to be one heck of a Gala.

Well done MHR for getting a superb line up together.

This looks like a prime contender for Gala of the year!

Congratulations to the MHR who have twice this year had to arrange replacement Locomotives to their original Gala line up.

Fingers crossed they don't have to again!

Something tells me that what was already going to be a busy Gala, has just got a whole lot busier!

Couldn't agree more, the only gala that may beat this is Barrow Hill's A1, A2, A3 and A4 Gala (providing 4472 makes it). I'm thinking of doing Saturday and Sunday as there's so many locos I want to see and ride behind though it'll be difficult as I expect crowds will be big. I guess it makes sense with 4492, 60163 and 1744 going down as a convoy (and an interesting LE movement) from Barrow Hill.

4492 is great news for me as I've wanted to see 60019 like this since I heard the plans of the repaint and thought I wouldn't get the chance to see her like this. I guess thanks go to (as well as the MHR and Jeremy Hoskins) Steam Dreams as they had 4492 on a Cathedrals on the Saturday.

Edit: Just looked at the Swanage Railway site and the news of 4492 visiting Swanage has been removed but 1744's is still there. Is 4492 no longer attending Swanage's Gala.

Much great news for the gala with the confirming of 4492 in the repaint. I am aware that many of the visits of 60019 have been changed or cancelled due to what I believe is the problems of NYMR and 60009 as I understand that Sir Nigel Gresley would do the main line tours to allow the visiting of Bittern

Am I a lone voice on this forum? I can't get the slightest bit excited about a locomotive (a) wearing a fictitious identity (b) not in a livery that matches any of the stock that it will be hauling. A garter blue 4464 Bittern hauling the LNER teak set on the SVR or the NYMR would be a sight worth seeing, but not "4492" hauling a rake of green Mark I's. I had a very good outward run on the main line to Bristol behind this loco back in May, (sadly, poor steaming spoilt the return leg) but my camera stayed firmly in my bag.

In all fairness it is not a fictitious livery. It is carrying the identity from a lost member in a livery that 4492 no doubt wore. For it to be fictitious it would be in a completely made up livery... secondly i doubt it matters what colour the coaches are with the locomotive to the people riding behind it. Of which there will no doubt be more of than photographers. The old saying of it still sounds the same comes into play when riding behind it.

You are not alone John. I don't get it either. I do look forward to another Mid Hants BR (S) gala but will just have to enjoy the Std 5 event instead!
