From Nuneaton via Water Orton it looks to me if a transit of New Street is involved. I thought it was still steam out of rather than through. Is this the case?

Think the more likely route after Water Orton will be Sutton Park - Bescot - Perry Barr - Soho - Smethick - Old Hill - Stourbridge - Kidderminster.

I'd looked at that. It's a freight only route around north Brum and I guess I'd discounted that. Thanks for the info.

There have been a fair few specials over the Sutton park line. Vintage Trains have used that route a few times to get access to the grand junction at bescot after starting at Tyseley.

Printed off my tickets from Steam Dreams today with times. Have just seen Steam Info's version and they bear little resemblance, certainly coming back which looks a protracted affair to put it mildly!

The full timings are now on the Steam Dreams website...

    http://www.steamdreams.co.uk/executables/GT410WebContent.exe?ActionCode=Timings

As camraman says, the return times differ from those on uksteam.info. I'm guessing that the latter were the original timings and SD asked for them to be revised when they saw the 23.18 arrival back in Euston (the advertised time was 21.00). The return is now via Birmingham International instead of Nuneaton.

Just opened an e mail from SD. Times as you say Malc but we are now having to catch a service train to MK as Network Rail can't find a platform at Watford either way!

Steam Dreams are advising passengers from Watford and points north to catch the 8.19 from there to MK. This is a southern service and does not have 100% reliability on saturdays for some reason. Far better to get the 8.11 London Midland train, which we shall do from Hemel Hempstead. Pointless going to Watford. At least there is a back-up if it goes pearshaped. Miss the Watford to MK leg with 60163 both ways, however but what the hell. At least there's Bathams at the end of the tunnel!

Tornado passed Kings Langley in fine style a few minutes early, on the down slow, despite the down fast being blocked. There was a stationary pendolino in the platform at Kings Langley when we arrived, with another waiting behind it. It departed shortly after Tornado had passed.

Which rake of stock is it today William? Hope it's the blood and custard.

Tornado reported pass Bushey, Herts at 08:27 and M.Keynes 09:02-09:16 (dep right time) en route to Worcester. <BJ>

The coaches were a mixture, the maroon support coach was followed by one in chocolate and cream. There may have been a blood and custard one among them!

Sounds like Tornado put up a spectacular display on the return this evening. Received this text from a good friend: "Tornado topped Old Hill bank at c35 mph with 13 on & dead - yes, dead - 66 on the back. Must be 600t gross - quite remarkable, as even a GW man must admit!"

Tornado passed Kings Langley on the return journey at 22:02 (3-4 minutes early, as it was not due to pass Watford until 22.08) on the up fast, both slow lines being closed for engineering works.

Was the 66 on from Worcester to B/International for stock movement at Worcs or insurance on Old Hill?
