Simon, I think he means operated by a gate wheel in the SB rather than having to go outside and move them by hand.

Yes, thats what I did mean, manual as opposed to automatic barriers. I should have made that clear, sorry.

Hi Derek, I was going to go out for it this morning but the weather is pretty abysmal again so I didn't bother. Railtour live is down at present as well as mentioned by Glyn here:-

    http://railways.national-preservation.com/showthread.php/32213-RailTour-Live

I have just texted a mate who may be up at Diggle to see if he has any news.

    Neil.

Update, on time through Diggle with 70013.

Ollie looked good at Stalybridge - Stockport and Cheadle Hulme tonight - but the world has gone mad at the Buffet Bar.

The Elf n Safeteigh Nazis have been having a field day these last few months. We started with ropes to be put around the platform area outside the Buffet on a Saturday night to separate the circulation area from the platform. There is sufficient width for both and it has always been a pleasure to sit outside and watch the world go by.

I should know - I was the estate manager for the area under BR for several years nd it was never a problem - but of course - we had "common sense" then.

Then a couple of weeks ago the platform benches disappeared, and plastic glasses for outside became the order of the day.

Now, this week, First TPE has excelled itself - "No drinking at all on the platform" When I questioned if this was a safety measure in respect of people too close to the platform edge I was told by someone who is presumably part of that crowd - with a perfectly straight face - "Its because people couldn't get on and off trains because of Rail Ale Trailers" Then he said I wasn't listening to him - presumably because I was laughing too much!! What were they doing - holding hands along the platform edge?!

This route has always marketed its real ale qualities. This kind of clientele and the clientele of the Buffet have never caused any REAL problems - but presumably someone can see people actually on a station and it is causing such concern that it has to be stopped - perhaps its a mid twenties blonde with a pencil skirt and a degree in budgerigar management!

As we left a BTP Police transit arrived and the hofficer walked up to the station supervisor's office - but as Ollie had gone - so had everyone on the platform - So much for CCTV!

A couple of shots of 70013 yesterday seen near South Milford, Haxby and Sherburn In Elmet. I'd almost forgotten just how noisy 70013 is!
