Cheers Stuart - I'd driven through that c**ppy weather over York and managed to just catch the sun coming out.

I shall look forward to comparing stories of trespass, wall jumping and other tales of daring do evading the BTP / depot manager .....

43 years since the end of steam celebrated with a run round the circle - it really does not compare to the splendours of Yorkshire via Harrogate and Knaresborough either in terms of scenery or running even if it does put bums on seats.

I wonder if two via Wakefield and one via Harrogate each week would be just as financially successful and allow a bit of variety.

I gather 6115 is back to 10A tomorrow for a bit of TLC and that 4932 will be on the run from Saturday.

Problem with Harrogate is half the stuff dont fit. Main problem at the moment is Std been the wrong end for the evening run,I dare say this is having a big effect on POTD passengers. Certainly I did 5 evening circuits last year, this year I shalnt be doing any if the stock says the same....

IMHO the climb through Outwood beats anything on the Harrogate circle, just a shame that you are 7-8 coaches back!

    Cheers,
    Mark

Any idea what the problem is? If it's a relatively small fault, there's a chance it may be fixed in time for the York - Scarborough leg. This has happened in the past - DL on the morning loop then steam from York at lunchtime. Let's hope so.

Injector/clack valve problems. Apparently it was struggling on Saturday with the same problem.

I'd heard that the 37 was returning to York light engine and the steam will work solo on the return from Scarborough. I guess we'll find out soon enough.

Saw the train this morning and couldn't believe my luck.
A two hour drive from Whitby to Burton Salmon and a bleeding 37 comes around the corner, Hmmmph (Stomps feet)
I cruised my way toward Scarborough and witnessed the 5 being towed light steam and around 25 minutes late.
At Scarborough the 5 had been turned and looked to be ready to do the return.

    Bill on holiday in t'North.
Who on earth thought the A64/A1237 junction NE of York was a good idea? Twice I've been stuck in 2.5 mile queues - lesson learnt, will avoid York from now on :)

Don't blame the junction. It is actually better now than it used to be. Even from before they built the 1237.
At least I can now get off the 1237 and head west on the 64 when all the tourists are causing the queue heading for Scarborough.
If you check your map you can easily avoid this queue if you remember in time.

Best way I find is to go through Malton and turn right at the LC onto road to Stamford Bridge. Follow it through to Gate Helmsley and then join road from Brid and then you usually find it much easier getting onto the 64 outside York. Especially around 6/7pm.

Hadn't realised the Outwood bank was so good. Went there on off-chance on Wednesday and was showered with unburnt coal ejected from the chimney. Doncaster stopper driver was joking with the assembled company as we could hear the 5 coming, but he was out of the way by the time it came.

I think it's 44932 again this week. I've also been told it's 46115 the week after and 70013 the week after that (but the person who told me got it wrong earlier in the season, so best treat that with some caution)

An email I had last night suggested 44932 was booked today (Which it was on the train earlier) 46115 Wednesday / Thursday. The 8F on the 'Fellsman' and 46115 on 'The Waverley'.

Just wondering if anyone has witnessed 46115 moving today?

Should be at York now... Approx. 10:20 off Carnforth, 44932 due back to Carnforth tomorrow morning.

Clips from this morning from 3 locations = http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nPMLfYDLSVE

46115 climbs the bank from Wakefield Westgate up through Outwood. You could hear her working well from down the hill and for several minutes after passing. (screenshot below)
