Hi everyone I have been told by a friend of mine on the NYMR that LNER A2 Pacific 60532 Blue Peter has been sold by the Drury Family. He believe it been sold to Jeremy Hosking does thats means finally its getting overhauled and going back on the mainline at long last?

According to the latest Steam Railway it has not been sold but Rupert Drury is now on the board of the Royal Scot Locomotive and General Trust, so maybe not sold but more under their care.

Doesn't worry me who owns it as long as it's put back in working order and we can have a working line up of A1, A2, A3 and A4 Pacifics. Imagine that little lot on GB7. :)

Although it does say that Hoskings likes the loco and if it was for sale then he would try and buy it. I would like to see 60532 back in steam.

I wouldn't mind seeing another A1, A2, A3, A4 line up with 60163, 60532 and 60103 in BR Apple Green and an A4 painted to match the time period.

60007 is currently in a livery to match said period. Either Garter blue with British Railways on the tender or BR blue with early emblem overlap the Apple green BR pacific era on the east Coast!

This is Great news, , , wish there were a few more Mr H's around willing to turn these dreams into realities

Blue Peter, Whats not to like...
The outward appearance though belies the considerable amount of work required to put this one back in action(so ive heard)
so dont think this will be a quick one.
Im sure that a lot of the work done in building Tornado will now be very usefuL, wonder if Hopetown works will get the job ?
Some mouth watering possibilities in prospect (Lke an A1/A2 double header)

    made my day

Then again it mustn't be true - if it was, another magazine would have trumpeted the news as a 'world exclusive?' OK.................I''m gone ! lol

I really hope this turns out to be true and that we see her back in steam in the not to distant future.

Certainly brought a smile to my lips!

Of course. As for me I'm putting my vote in early - pink with yellow spots.

    beat me to it !!!

be good if the A1 Trust gets to overhaul her - could be useful to have lots of interchangable bits in the same stable ;)

Maybe they could have a phone vote for the livery as well and include LMS red as an option, which seems to take off into the lead every week.

Don't know about other people but I worry about so many of our main line engines being under the control of a single individual, particularly as we know (if we are realistic) that each and every one of them will be losing money. Let's hope that his pockets remain deep and he doesn't turn out to be another Bernie Madoff or Allan Stanford (I'm not implying that he is in any way, but both these were apparently very rich men whose wealth evaporated overnight once they fell from grace, it can happen!).

If you're not implying anything then why bring it up in the first place?

The locomotives are in a trust, not private ownership.
Whats the worst that could happen.. the trust fails and the locomotives sold.. it's not as if no one will buy them,
The new owner may not have the money to restore them... but thats something that could affect anyone of / all of us.
Personally I think an owner who is willing to fund their restoration and operation is far better than one who buys a barry wreck, leaves it to rot for 40 years and hopes to sell it for massive profits.
