Anyone who hasn't done the WSE should take the opportunity this year, while it's there. It was a superb trip on Sunday, behind Nunney Castle, and no doubt her successor/s for the rest of the season will be well worthy.

All of the WSE trains have been fully booked this year so it's probably too late to book. The final WSE is on Sunday behind Tangmere. <BJ>

Guilty as charged - but not at all suprised - the facilities needed for the 2 weeks of bthe Games will have cost a fortune and they'll need to maximse the usage to try and avoid charges of wasting money.

A dep time of 08:55 for the WSE from Bristol TM tomorrow. No pick up at Keynsham. All other timings are within a gnat's whisker. Nunney Castle
was in steam this morning at SPM but probably for maintenance purposes only. Tangmere is due into Bristol this afternoon from Yeovil. <BJ>

There appeared to be a small problem at Bath this morning. Soon sorted though. 11 mins late away from the spa.
Fully booked again today. The train had an additional coach making 9 in total. <BJ>

Tangmere passed through Keynsham on time at 21:09. There has been a lot of interest in the WSE series of trains this year. At Keynsham there were so many families out to see the final train that it was difficult to film Tangmere passing through. Not a bad price to pay as long as we see the interest continuing. <BJ>

Out of interest, have we lost the traditional Bincombe view from the sunny (west) direction due to vegetation?
It looks very overgrown. A great shame if it has gone. <BJ>

A Spamcan on Upwey Bank has been on my "to do" list for a long while and I finally managed to "break my duck" yesterday. A superb performance from 34067 so a big "well done" to the crew. Just a pity that the last two scheduled runs of the season have been cancelled due to engineering works as I'd planned to go on one of these. Here's hoping they run again next year.

See my pic posted earlier. The view is still there, just, but for how much longer depends on how fast the trees grow. Not a patch on the view back in steam days when the embankment strode majestically across the landscape with nary a tree in sight. The view between the two tunnels has not changed that much over the years but to get the sun into the bottom of the cutting needs the train on a much earlier path.

I've half a mind to go out for that just for the sound. One Pacific being banked by another would be interesting but it's a 325 miles round trip plus they joy of the M25 on a weekday.

It has been a great summer for Weymouth steam. I don't know whether the Olympics next year, with Weymouth chosen for water sports, will interfere with the summer 2012 programme. I hope that it will be possible to manage another trip or two next summer.

Is that a round-about way of saying I was on the wrong side Bill??

Only joking mate, I did look at going over the right side for the sun but as can be seen from the stills theres a lot of vegetation and as I was doing video I didnt think the shot would be great. Its fine for stills, as that excellent shot posted shows but even then you only have a "window" of about 60 odd yards when theres no trees to get your snap. It was my call to stand where I did as Alberta and me were first there. I would have loved to been on the right side, maybe my chain saw should be put in my bag when I go there for the Deltic next week-end!!!

No, no, no. I've not been to Bimcombe for a while and wondered if the shot was still on. Our only hope is that the crews of normal service trains complain this autumn of slipping wheels on the gradients due to the leaf fall and NR may be forced to clear the trees.
As for the Deltic on Saturday, it will be noisy !! Don't forget Evershot on the southbound run Nick. <BJ>
