    Quite understandable, particularly with the 40s as they ran side by side with steam for some time . It would be an omission in an authentic scene without them

    Absolutely, when I started serious 'spotting' in Lancaster (1960) they were aleady part of the scene among the Semi's, Clans, Brits, Jubs, Pats, Scots and the no namers classes. That signature 'whistle' sparks off all sorts of memories :)
