55.022 'Royal Scots Grey'. Saturday, 3rd September. 1Z75 Crewe to Weymouth. 1Z76 return.
Note that the train now runs via Bath and Yeovil on the outward, returning via Oxford and Worcester on the return.

I'm planning a day out on Saturday around this one - anyone else going for it ? I'll probably be at Avoncliff for the outbound and thinking about Chilson for the evening.

Has a Deltic been over the Costwold line, post BR ? - Last I can remember was 55022 herself with the Deltic Venturer 28/11/81

Not sure of the Cotswold line but I remember photographing a Deltic charter at Kemble just before the class was finally withdrawn. <BJ>

    Hi

That was probably the Deltic Venturer - outbound to Paddington was via the Golden Valley, return was via Oxford and Evesham

Just to let all you Southerners know, 55022 is more or less on time leaving Brum.
Time for me to stake my plot at the local spot.
Bill, Up North in Cheltenham :)

55.022 sounded wonderful as it accelerated away from Westerleigh Jct running a few mins late. The 12 coach train is unfortunately the dreaded Rainbow Set.
Not too bad on the outward but there will be two blue and greys behind the loco leaving Weymouth this afternoon ....take it head on Nick!! <BJ>.

Was the top headboard facing inwards during yesterday's railtour? This usually signifies respect to someone who has recently passed away.

I may be wrong here. <BJ>

It's a grey board with a red typeface reading 'Pathfinder', doesn't show well in my image. Look at david1984 post 14 for a better view.

I doesn't help if you are colour blind like me as the lettering hardly shows. Thanks for the reply. <BJ>
