I agree Neil, the big brass dome would make for an uneven silhouette if 'Taliesin' were painted black - this means that the dome will have to be painted black too......

If you can find some 1999 photos of Tal, pre October you can decide for sure. There are only 2 colours for FR engines, maroon or green.

I quite like Lyd in BR Black but I think I i'd prefer SR Olive Green. Its one of my favourite livieries.

That rather ignores the fact that until Prince was withdrawn two were painted red. Little Wonder I think is painted blue although that is not a loco in running order but in the past I think Linda was also blue and Britomart also. As for Black, well obviously many have run for a year in the colour but I think Mountaineer had it slightly longer term and then you have Lydia

I'm sure that 'Linda' is painted in Stroudley's 'Improved engine blue'.......

Last time I checked, Lydia was blue and at the Perrygrove Rly. And has the FR hidden Little Wonder up at Glanypwll? It'll be competing against Welsh Pony for available funds for restoration.

I think Will was expressing his opinion of what liveries ought to be worn.

Now, there's a quiz question for everyone (except sillybilly and andrewt)
    Which loco carries it?

Back on topic, Andrew, believe loco roster has been drafted for half term??
Are you able to let us know when Lyd's likely to be around?

The loco roster for the February Half Term Holiday week's trains commencing 19/2/11 show double heading is the order of the day. Taliesin and Merddin Emrys will haul the northbound working from Porthmadog and No.138 and K1 (for the opening service)/K1 and Lyd/No.138 alone will haul the southbound working from Caernarfon end. Vale of Ffestiniog will be the Harbour Station pilot for most of week with Lyd taking over for the final weekend.-info from http://www.isengard.co.uk/

That had Mountaineer's bell. That's in the archive alongside Little Wonder's and Little Giant's.

More recently it has also carried a replica of Mountaineer's bell which is privately owned.

I should point out all the FR steam locos are black, some just have different colour panels and lining.

Anyone able to comment how Lyd's trials with air atomisation have gone?

If you like Southern green locomotives check the FR website later today.

Sorry - you'll have to wait till Andrew gets back from accompanying a TV crew on a filming assignment...

There's another teaser below, if you haven't spotted it already!
