I went to the Paignton and Dartmouth Railway last month hoping to see Lydham Manor in black, but it had been withdrawn a few days earlier with what someone said were some 'serious problems'. Anyone any idea what the issues are and when it might be expected back?

The withdrawal was planned as i understand it at the end of the summer season asn some attention is required to the firebox , that needs a boiler lift

From Rosterrory in the Heritage Railways section:

"in response to the comments on here about 7827. Unfortunately she was stopped a week before regatta with firebox and stay problems. The boiler was removed last week in order to gain access to the offending stays. Repair works will get under way shortly. She will not return to service untill 2012 now. Sorry to all off you who were hoping to come and see her, were just as gutted to be having to strip her apart"

She will return in Black again though.

Oooh, a far cry from her roll-out as 7800 at the heritage festival. Feel for the lads who put their own time into doing her up in lined black. Hope the work required isn't more than expected. Looking forward to 2012
