I wouldn't describe the Oxford, Worcester and Wolverhamption Railway as being new. It's been in existence since 1852 so the 're-doubling' hardly constitutes a 'new' railway.

    Times now on UKsteam.info

Steady on Neil, I don't think you need to be quite so literal-minded, do you? Or perhaps use a few more "smilies", if your tongue was in your cheek?

What I'd be interested to know is whether any parts of the lineside have lost significant amounts of vegetation during the re-doubling work? A clear view of the climb "up" from Honeybourne would be rather nice. I've not had the chance to go exploring over there recently.

Currently on a (rare) visit to UK from down under I have booked on this trip and very much looking forward to it! The (very helpful) lady at Vintage Trains yesterday said they still did not have any confirmed timings but expected to be off Tyseley at about 06:30am.

Unfortunately those images are a few years old, to say the least.

Thank you. Those timings give me an idea of what time I need to leave darkest Shropshire(my temporary home) to make it in plenty of time at Worcester.

Hi. new here. this train is due to stop for water at Hinksey North in Oxford. Any Oxford train enthusiasts know where this is specifically? Can the train be viewed here? I'm interested as to the location of the water stop relative to Oxford station and the 2 foot bridges in Grandpont and Hinksey park.
    Many thanks

Re: cathedral express - tyseley to paddington via new cotsworld line - 17th septembe

For the outward train : The normal stopping place is the loop line immediately south of the station. The two footbridges you mention are good vantage points. The southern one is probably better, since the train will accelerate for longer before it gets to you. Sometimes, the train goes slowly to the south end of the loop, waiting for another train to clear the section, and only really opens up as it crosses to the mainline, by which time it's very close to the northern footbridge.

For the return train : the train usually takes water in the same loop, i.e. on the east side of the mainline, just south of the station. This means it often waits for a gap in London-bound traffic to cross over. After watering, it normally runs through the London-bound platform then crosses back to the north-bound track north of the station. A good place to see the departure is Walton Well Rd bridge.

Re: cathedral express - tyseley to paddington via new cotsworld line - 17th septembe

Thanks Steamage. Now just to check I have understood you correctly (my new-found train enthusiasm is as a result of being a mum of a 3 year old boy rather than from years of studying the railways so excuse the need to spell it out to me!)... have i got this right: the train will stop for water pretty close to the station, so the footbridges in g'pont and hinksey, whilst good general vantage points, are not good for viewing the water stop itself (I think I have been misled by the water stop being called "Hinksey North"!). And in order to estimate the time at the foot bridges, I can assume arrival will be soon after the departure from the water stop? Does that all sound right? Thanks again.
