    http://www.nymr.co.uk/special-events/autumn-steam-gala/ No its isn't.................................hence the question!

    (see how Foxcote Manor is now trumpeted as the surprise guest, while 4492's apparent demise is not even mentioned)

    According to the boys at the NYMR 4492 Dominion of New Zealand will be at the gala as planned, likewise the website still says the loco will be there (well as of 18:35 it still did!).

    What website are you looking at? :dizzy: On the Autumn Gala page it says

    The full line of locomotives is expected to be:
    7822 Foxcote Manor GWR Manor
    825 Southern Railway Class S15
    44767 George Stephenson, LMS Class 5
    45428 Eric Treacy LMS Class 5
    49395 LNWR Class G2
    63395 LNER Class Q6
    75029 Standard Class 4 (freshly overhauled)
    92214 Standard Class 9F

    Confused = very! :twitch:

    Anyway I'll trust the humans at the NYMR more than the internet. Still looking forward to my first NYMR gala.

    Interesting, the pictures and what 4492 was going to do has certainly vanished, only mention I can see is this bit;

    "We are pleased to announce that in addition to 4492, the Gala will see a late additional visitor in the form of GWR Manor 4-6-0 No 7822 Foxcote Manor, courtesy of The Llangollen Railway"

    Confused?

    Not sure if the following information is correct as I have not been able to substantiate it but...

    I was told that the LNER lettering attached to the tender had become loose and Network Rail were apprehensive about letting it run over their metals in case it "flies off"!

    As I say, I have not been able to substantiate this so may be well wide of the mark but does tie in with both reports that 4492 is mechanically sound yet has failed its FTR.

    Will have to watch this space in the hope that something official appears, it's a shame if she does not make it as I was looking forward to seeing the 4492.

    hopefully something will appear soon on the NYMR website to end the uncertainty about 4492's attendance. That said, there's still a couple of days for matters to be resolved if at all possible.

    Due to the non appearance of Bittern, they have added these to the Gala.

    Appearance of 7822 Foxcote Manor – the first visit of a GWR Manor to the NYMR, and only the second ever to the North East (the only other occasion was in 1975 at the Stockton & Darlington Railway 150 anniversary cavalcade)
    Appearance of NER snowplough No 18, recently restored by the NYMR York Area Group. This will be run with an engine through Grosmont station
    Demonstration of a steam breakdown crane at Grosmont MPD on Sunday 2nd

    Presumably this Loco. has close links with the Caribbean as well as the antipodes!

    Actually it did not 'fail at the weekend', there was a problem, during its FTR exam which, in all honesty, was more to do with the events of 2nd. September than any real problem with the loco., bearing in mind it was scheduled to run a tour on the ECML.

    According to the info given to me at Grosmont this afternoon (27th), Bittern will NOT be attending the NYMR autumn gala after all. Foxcote Manor has arrived and I saw her being gauge tested. Then 92214 failed on a routine train at Goathland, not sure why or whether this will affect the loco's inclusion in the gala. I am told the timetable for the weekend may change.

    I presume the "events" you refer to were 777's 'problems' on the ECML rather than 4492's workings during the Swanage Railway Steam Gala on Friday 2nd Sept.

    Your assumption would be correct!

    I don't think this would have been the case, as 4492 was to have been towed to the NYMR. From what I've heard it has a brake problem that couldn't be fixed in time.
