Anyone good at photoshop? I wonder what GWR locos would look like with standard numerals had BR decided to scrap the plates.

What number should BR have put in front of the GW number anyway? 20000?

Nice photoshop, but could i suggest that if BR chose to replace the plates and paint the number along with '8P' on the cabside, they would also have dispensed with the GWR Route Availibility (The Double Red Spots) and given it a RA number (RA9 ?).

    RA 9? Oh yes I guess there wasnt a RA10 :)

(20000 was the series used for Electric locos so that wouldnt have worked, although all GWR were electrifying OF COURSE)

I know that it's hypothetical, but wasn't it only the ER and NER regions that applied RA numbers to their steam locos?

I believe that the original route availability codes were retained in the old big four areas. I've seen BR locos with GW style spots applied.
