Anyone know what the plan is on Thursdays, I see from the website that there's an hourly passenger service, is this just going to be two locos out on passenger trains?

You have to say it will be colourful with 88 in blue and 8624 in red

If they wanted a more pure S&D theme then the hall, 78019 and O4 are slight overkill . Lamiel you could argue as passing through Templecombe . Jinties and 8F's were S&D regulars

Not a massively exciting line up, the 7F would be better in BR livery for the Windcutter run, but without 6023 there isn't too much to draw the crowds in this year.

Just a heads up for anyone attending this on the Saturday, October 8th, wanting to leave Loughborough via the A60 on Saturday evening, please note that a diversion will start at 5pm, Nottingham road just by the Midland Station will be closed and traffic diverted "The long way round" via the A6 and through the villages. This is planned to last until 5am the following morning.

There usually is. The timetable usual shows all passenger workings and the locos with the goods timing appearing in the gala booklet included with tickets or purchased for £3. It seems unusual for the timetable not to be online already with under a week to go.

I can add the information, received from the GCR in reply to my email query, that 63601 is on passenger service Friday and 8624 is on passenger service Sat & Sun.

I'd asked as I was hoping to see them both on the same day :(

Anyway, thank you to the GCR Booking Office for a speedy reply to my question, they are very efficient!

I think I will go on Friday.

Agreed, the page lags badly on my machine, using a pretty decent system and a good cable connection! Also, is there no Friday evening do this year? Seems a pity, it was always the highlight to my mind!

EDIT: 5616x3674 pixels for a small thumbnail?! Blimey, I hope they've got a cheap web host!

Hi chaps, just a quick question, going to be visiting the GCR for the first time by car for this on Saturday, what is the best place to park to attend (arriving from the south)?

Quorn has the most parking and is £5 per person but that is refunded if you purchase a train ticket. The website also mentions car parking at Loughborough for £3.

Plenty of parking on road at Loughborough if you get there early.

Similarly, there is a good free car park right next to the track and station at Rothley too, but that does fill up quite quickly on Gala days.
As suggested, there is plenty of free off-road parking close to the station at Loughborough.

There are also quite a few small side roads near Leicester North, to the North of the station off the A6.
