The last I heard the issue with Nunney was just a lubrication pipe so was expected to be ready.

Although not exactly an everyday occurrence in steam days. This will be one hell of a noisy railtour. <BJ>

Has there been any rain in the SW recently? It's all pretty dry up here in Sussex.

Well in Plymouth it rained a little bit this morning. As for recently, I've just got back from a 2 week holiday and my lawn has grown well and looking very green. The 5 day forecast doesn't show any rain due. But who believes the forecast!

    OK, showing my ignorance (again).
Can someone please explain how a Castle,
which is bigger that a Hall, be in gauge,
when the smaller Hall is not

Although a Castle is a 'bigger' engine in terms of power and overall size its not as wide as a Hall.

Look at the head on view of both, the cylinders of GWR 2 cyl locos show a pronounced overhang.
    Hope that helps

    cheers Dave

Because the Hall has two big cylinders, while the Castle has four smaller cylinders which don't stick out as much !

Sure the fact that the Halls, Manors, and indeed many GWR 2 cylinder locos have cylinders set low, whereas the Castle and King have higher mounted cylinders is also a factor?

Although no significant rainfall, the autumnal temperatures at night produce a morning dew that is damp underfoot until midday. Lack of rain is
certainly not a problem at present compared to the beginning of the month when we were experiencing record breaking temperatures. <BJ>

The RTC website is now giving pick up and set down times for Bristol TM although still mentioning the return via the Berks and Hants to Westbury. <BJ>

States actual times at the top too, yet still lists 5029 and 70013 for the tour.

As a newbie to railtours, the constant changes is a little worrying. The description of the tour gives one set of timings, the timetable another, the description of the tour in their brochure says it goes to Kingswear not Plymouth... And both the description and timetable in the brochure are different as well!

Also, the fact that the departure timings have been moved nearly a whole hour is pretty worrying, and also rather awkward, I had plans in place for getting to Poole on time for a 7am departure, but a 6am departure is pushing it a little.

Does anyone have any idea when this train is actually going to depart Poole? Once I know that I can deal with everything else...

    Ross
