Could well be the Golden Arrow unless 7000 previously worked with the SLOA set ?.

70000 previously hauled the VSOE set in the 1980s when based on the Nene Valley Railway. Might pop over to see this one :)

It was also gloomy at ( Margaret ) Thatcham aswell, the weather bucked up at Hungerford 70000 was really motoring through there.

Hope to see her again at Wokingham this evening in the dark although the station lights are pretty good there.

She was, you're quite right, and she still is. It's a livery thing going on here - the black livery without nameplates representing her state when first built and before being named and painted green.

Sadly, there is reported to be a NR problem nr Newbury resulting in diversions to WoE expresses. Whether VSOE will be delayed/re-routed via Swindon or Salisbury I have no idea. Just a quick note to say that the FGW site shows the B+H currently closed to through trains........

70000 Britannia departed from Bristol TM on time with the 1Z98 VSOE. At Keynsham station we could hear the loco exiting St. Annes tunnel some 1.5 miles before it would pass us. Blowing it's whistle profusely, it blasted through the station with it's 13 immaculate coaches. British steam at it's best.

Well done to the locomotive society and support crews for saving the day. <BJ>
