I suspect the PRCLT folks have spoken to all the works mentioned above, and one or two others besides. It's really good to know that overhaul options are being considered, and I'll be very interested to see what decisions are made - but I'm content to wait until all the ducks are in one neat row ;-)

There are some thoughts going around of this locomotive so I thought I would bring the subject back to the top of the forums attention in steam traction. I'm a big fan of the Princess Royal Class locomotives.

Even as a dyed-in-the-wool Southern fan, I've nothing against the LMS Pacifics, even if their designer did come from some place called Swindon. If the rumours are true, a reinvigorated 46203 will give us another opportunity to compare the production locomotive against the prototype (an opportunity I missed last time, as it was before my time on the railways).

With 6201 going out in the near future, it will be nice to have a Princess Royal to take the podium afterwards. If the PRCLT decided to overhaul it, who'd be for voting in another "Race for the Livery"?!

I believe Lizzie might be back before PMR. 6201 Ptincess Elizabeth Locomotive Society Ltd. are having her overhauled. PRLCT have 80098 up there alley next.

Is there a distinct 'que' of their locos? If you recall, 6233 came straight out of traffic and into an overhaul, thus jumping both 80098 and 46203.

But if there was a race for the livery for 46203, BR blue early emblem ala 46208 'Princess Helena Victoria' would certainly get my vote

I wouldn't say there is a queue structure really. 6233 had all the equipment needed for further mainline running, 46203 did not. So the Duchess was the better and no doubt cheaper option.

I would also think 80098 would have a bit of a wait as it hasn't been out of traffic that long and 80080 has only recently returned.

When i went to Butterley the other week the general jist i got was 80098 was next after the Ducjess is finished with PMR looked at after that.

My vote goes for Blue too, though i'd like to see a Green Lizzie at some point, it's high time we saw a blue stanier.

I would suggest that since 46233 is a unique and known main line performer and earner, it was logical to get her turned round as quickly as possible and back out there again.
Being stuck away behind 80098 which is not in the same league, would not have been an option, and 46203 would soon have been competing for work with 6201, which will no doubt also be turned round fairly quickly.
