Can anyone advise what, if anything, is happening with the two ATSF locos (2-10-4 No 5021 and 4-8-4 No 2925) that were moved from the museum to storage off site?
(and if they don't want them can I have them please?!!)

They have had then, but they were never part of the main display for a long time. They may eventually get some cosmetic work but there is nowhere for them to run and California parks (which the CSRM is part of) are being very tightly squeezed at present, to the extent there are fears over closure. These engines are something of a hot potato is US railfan discussions

Thanks - must have a look at some of the US forums sometime.

Where these the ones stored around the back of the Sacramento railroad works, ( I think this has been knocked down some years back?)

I might some pictures of them somewhere, I recall seeing them, when in 1999 rail fair 3985 and 844 were taken out of the event for "safety reasons"' ( a pipe burst in 844's cab, filling it with steam so both were pulled out and played no further part in it), they were taken across the flat crossing into the works area... I got on my bike and worked my around the town's flyovers to the works and found these two an unexpected bonus

They looked pretty good condition, Complete, just a bit tired.

Looking at the pictures it would seem they are close to the Amtrak line from sacto to Davis, ( a commute I did daily for 18 long months!)

Thanks for the update. Pity to see the two locos still there, I wonder what the future is for them.

Enjoyed the photos - thanks. Some classic traction there (Steam AND diesel) It would be a tragedy if the place closed, I guess that a volunteer takeover is unlikely?

It is preserved as a State Park, operated by State Parks with assistance from the State RR Museum Foundation and supported by a strong volunteer programme.
