Best of both worlds - BR locos in industrial liveries? 1501 in maroon as already mentioned, an orange Jinty, a blue or green Pannier?

An NCB green 57xx starred at a Foxfield Gala a few years ago. A pity Didcot's blue pannier has already reverted to "big railway" livery.

The pannier was in black Spamcan with the BR roundal blanked out and NCB over the top of it!

You're right of course. I'm now trying to recall where I saw a matt green NCB Pannier.

Thanks Anthony. I knew I'd seen one somewhere in the preservation era.

shame the didcot boys felt they should repaint the blue one into its altogether more common green!

Their loco, their choice but the world isn't exactly short of pannier tanks in GWR/BR livery so a while longer in blue would have been nice.

And isn't it nice to see the LT livery on them again, always thought that suited them very nicely.

Yes, a period of their history that gets overlooked by some. The only Pannier I saw in action outside of preservation was an LT example.

Bit late adding to this as my computers been in bits.

It surprises me that only one person has suggested getting Dubsey into passenger service of some sort or other. Here is a loco that is based on the railway (no costs of bringing in), is the only crane tank in steam in the UK (Europe/the world?), has never(?) been available for passenger haulage and it hasn't been offered by Foxfield so far.

There are arguments against using it on coaches (dumb buffers, lack of brakes) but the most recent gala saw Wimblebury being used on Driver for a Fiver, so at the very least can we have it on that please? I would happily pay £5 in excess of my rover ticket to secure this loco. I'm sure I'm not the only one who comes to the gala dependant on the visiting / newly restored locos available for haulage, and then goes to photo on Foxfield bank afterwards but would not turn up just for the photo opportunities. There are undoubtably more photographers on Nat Pres than haulage enthusiasts, which in my view skews these debates in favour of what would the photographers like.

If HMRI have signed off the colliery one could offer Driver for a Fiver / brake van rides within the confines of the colliery in between freights. Dubsey could make intermediate appearances on freights, and would be shunting around all day anyway, therefore hopefully keeping the photographers happy.

Fun today wasn't it? A good day for admirers of fog.
The final run up the bank to collect the punters at Dilhorne Park was superb. Was doing sound near the summit and all the slipping and sliding made for a great recording even if I could see bu99er all of what was going on until Dubsey got within 30 yards of me. :)

The Cairngorm Black Gold in the bar at Dilhorne was the real highlight though. :)

A selection for today's gathering . There was something about the mist that added to the industrial feel of things

many thanks to all at Foxfield and those who organised the day

Great to see some old friends today - its been a long time. I know that you will be back. Great photos Martin - we just need a steel works to visit if there are any left !.

The Summer Gala is in safe hands, I wont mess it up, the railway has 363 other days to do other stuff !.

The visitor ?, well you know I am not going to tell you - but it aint BR !. If all goes to plan it will be a something special - as ever.

Another charter is planned with Dubs just after XMAS - I can put folk in touch with Richard Newton if interested.

The poll ?, remind me how you vote for a industrial at Foxfield on mineral trains !.
