Ben, hopefully no need for terpsichorian activities!
The forecast for Loughborough, according to Accuweather.com, shows:
    "partly sunny. Winds from the S at 7 mph. High: 53 °F Realfeel®: 50 °F"
Hope the rest of the route proves to be the same or better.
Shame it's too far for double Panniers to Swanage as the existing turntable can turn them easily. Let's hope it's not too long before land can be purchased/leased and the OOC 70ft turntable installed. I'm sure there's a market for Birmingham-Swanage trips in the future.

Let's hope for a fine day on Saturday but I hesitate to use the word 'good' when the general water situation around here is so 'bad'. What constitutes 'good' and 'bad' weather will have to discussed more closely if the general situation does not improve. I've got lots of things crossed.

Not knowing any of the lines on this route can anyone recommend any good locations to view/photograph the trip?

    Re: Double-Headed Panniers - 19th November 2011

Same problem here. The only shot I am definitely aiming for at the moment is when they are travelling south down the Midland main line between Sheet Stores Junction and Leicester. There are any number of overbridges along this stretch which should provide a good vantage point.

However, if they are running late or it is a dull day then the light could be a problem for photography.

I am expecting a large turnout for this trip in view of the unusual motive power and the fact that it is a Saturday.

    Regards

    Dave

I was standing next to you David! We all should have big badges or something. They really were going well there, that's a great image. Thanks for taking note of my sound gear, looking forward to playing it back later. Saw the panniers later at East Midlands Parkway, made a fine sight powering along the fast line.

My video from 5 different locations around the East Midlands today plus a photo from Bagworth

Was the water carrier in use today or was it there just in case? If it was used did the Pannier(s) need modifying to use it?

Its was good to see Panniers back on the mainline

Yes I am an active volunteer
I suspect it was in reserve or they fed water from the carrier through a genny and up into the tanks at watering stops . Logically you wouldn't get water from floor level of the carrier up into the tanks unless you were able to apply a lot of pressure to the tanks in the carrier

However i'm sure Bob will provide the answer
