3083 is a very lovely coach. Unique, and having been tarted up 18 months ago now looks superb. Scanning through many picutres of the SVR in 70s and 80s. t now appears 3083 has carried pretty much every livery available.

Steam Railway has announced GNR N2 1744 will visit for the Gala (SVRA forum).

The locomotive is owned by The Gresley Society and is based on The Great Central Railway.

Well, when the chairman(?) of the Society lives just down the road and they're offering a reasonable hire rate then why not?
She'll probably stay away from the Teak set for the majority of her visit this time though, let the big blue engine (not Gordon) have the limelight.

Timetable writing has started, I'm attempting to try something out of the ordinary as dawn breaks over the north end of the line on Saturday morning, And we'll hopefully have a bit of double heading going on, plus some goods action, I will also be pushing to get the TPO's out for a spin.....

Brilliant. Looking forward to this already. The A4's are stunning and everything but I do prefer something with a bit of a bark like the N2 on the valley. A bit of TPO action would definitely get my vote too Tom! That and 28 back on a goods, ideally during the day, and perhaps a siphon or two on the GW rakes. I'm off in dream world again...!

    Cheers,
    Andy.

The latest edition of Steam Railway Magazine, which dropped on the doormat today, has confirmed that 'J72' 0-6-0T No:69023 is the third visitor for this event. The popular locomotive, which is owned by the North Eastern Locomotive Preservation Group, is expected to run on local turns at the event. The article on pg:13 says that further details and a fourth guest locomotive will be announced in the next issue of Steam Railway.
Great news, I am definitely looking forward to seeing the 'J72' for the first time at this gala. Looks to be a super event!

Steam Railway seems to be having some issues with counting. I'm sure 60019, 828, 1744 and 69023 adds up to four guest locos? Very strange. If there is to be another visitor I wonder what it will be. Following on the eastern theme I imagine. Are there any active B1's at the moment?

It will be nice to see 69023 on the valley anyway, I imagine on a 3/4 coach kiddy-arley/highley local?

    Cheers,
    Andy

As I understand it, Bewdley office had stated that they didn't plan on selling WTT's for this event. Whether they were to be freely available i don't know. Since then discussions have been ongoing I believe, so its a wait and see scenario right now i think. The man to ask for more info is Tom Clarke i imagine.

The current state of play is that there is little time to organise the printing of the WTT's for distribution to the public, even though the timetable was completed and checked well in advance, certain loco diagrams may be subject to change due to winter maintainence etc, One solution (under discussion) is to stick the WTT on the web, with loco diagrams assigned to No.s 1, 2, 3, etc, with stock formations and loco facings (the turntable will be in use) Then when the appearance of locos is confirmed we can drop a key into it. We'll see, got a committee meeting in a couple of weeks, and I certainly don't want to see the enthusiast fraternity missing out.
    Regards
    Tom

The Spring Gala brochure is now available online:

    http://www.svr.co.uk/pdf/specialevents/1086X7_SpringGalaBooklet_3F.pdf

Some interesting information to be had - Bittern will be appearing as Bittern, still in LNER blue though (which is the main thing!)

LNER Restaurant Car No.7960 will be in service in the LNER teak set, presumably giving us a full 8-coach GN/LNER Teak set for the first time ever!

Local services from Kidderminster are to Highley which should alleviate the pressure seen there at the Autumn gala last year.

The Goods, as usual, is running early morning and evening. Just the one goods by the look of it.

On Sunday a recreation of a TRPS special will take place with a full-line non-stop run by 7812 and 4566 on the BR Maroon Mk1s.

All in all, looks to be a cracker with a couple of interesting 'firsts', a varied timetable and lots of action!

    Can't wait :biggrin1:
