Just got the tickets for this. Network Rail were late with the timings again apparently. Note the train on the return run sets down at Chertsey and Woking BEFORE Guildford and the Surrey Hills section. Those who are joining at Purley and Redhill now have the option of getting off at Clapham Jct at around 21.40 as the train does not get back to Purley and Redhill until after 23.30.

What is the routing is South of Cambridge ? Is it going Hitchin-Royston or going up the Tottenham Hale-Stortford Route ?

Don't know I am afraid. Only have basic timings on the letter with the tickets. We leave Woking at 8.04 and get to Ely at 13.38. We return at 18.14 from Ely and get back to Woking at 22.33. I don't know if this helps at all.

Okay thx, I had heard from a somewhat unreliable contact at National express that it would be the Stortford line but hopefully the times will be posted up this weekend so I can know which route to visit

Timings now up on Steam Dreams site - it will be via Bishops Stortford in both directions.

I shall be out for this as I don't start work until 17:00 on Monday. Just a case of finding a nice spot that's not all overgrown.

I hauled myself out of bed to get down and see this depart from Chertsey at (literally) the crack of dawn! Then chased round to Abinger Hammer to see her passing at Hackhurst Farm.

It was a beautiful morning and worth the effort :)

    Couple from earlier today.

Buckland, near Reigate. Last minute choice of location after finding the line at Hackhurst Farm still in shadow!

Beild Drove, a few miles north of Ely, with the ECS to March. It was a bit windy standing there!

Very stormy night with heavy rain out on the Surrey Hills tonight. Should be a testing climb up towards Gomshall, hope all goes well, anyone out to see this tonight?

Two very nice locations there, and two excellent pictures. You certainly got the miles in! The sun just came out in time at Hackhurst but it's good to see new locations anyway, and in fact Buckland looks even better, I'll try that for the next sunny VSOE I think.

You'd have had to be brave or a bit daft tonight!!

Cheers Steve. I saw your video, and the noticed the sun was on the line by the farm. Buckland's ok. Best place for video is probably the bridge, as there's a GSM-R mast next to the line that's right in the shot for photos.

550 miles in 2 days chasing steam this weekend! 4 shots that I'm happy with, so can't grumble too much.

A great run with Tornado yesterday and a good day in a very sunny Ely. I think it was worth travelling on just for that superb climb out of Shalford in the morning. What a soundtrack from Tornado! They must have heard her coming in Gomshall. The acceleration was pretty impressive too. After the train had trundled through London we had a restrained run to the water stop at Broxbourne with some fast running after this. The return run featured some more high speed running before reaching the capital. Some pretty awful weather on the return as Tornado headed into the storm in the South.

A couple from me at East Croydon yesterday - much chiming on the approach ensured nobody was surprised as she passed!
