I know that the recent controversy surrounding a veteran who was not allowed to sit is a seat less Spitfire cockpit is covered in a different thread.

What I am genuinely wondering is - does any museum (or other custodians) allow Joe Public to sit in a Spitfire, in return for a hefty fee? I'd be really grateful for any info. I've tried several internet searches but no joy!

There are people with GRP replica Spitfires and Hurricanes who will allow you to be photographed in the cockpits. I don't have any further details but I have seen them on the airshow circuit.

Thanks for the help, but I must add that your "try Google" makes some interesting assumptions. Of course I tried Google before seeking help here. I know almost nothing about aircraft, so how on earth would I know about the existence of this place? I found various IWM sites, RAF museums, Battle of Britain Memorial Flight, but no Shoreham. Google is only as good as the serach terms one enters.

As I say, thanks for the help anyway.

Ok - I simply entered 'sit in a Spitfire' as per your thread title. Happy hunting!
