The train stops with Hellifield station on its right, assuming they will be watering from the tank up the hillside....
There is actually a goods loop both sides Mark.

    Hi all,
Change to timings now, Riley has now said that there will be a waterstop at appleby instead of hellifield and a second one at Chatburn.
Also... 44871 will be leading this year.
    Matt

Anyone know how this train is being heated, box on back, genny coach or steam heat. When the pair went to Buxton on 5 November 2011 the train was steam heated and how nice it was.

Thanks Ralph. I've decided that though the weather forecast for Saturday is looking good, that for Friday evening is rather manky - I can't face the drive up the M6 on a stormy Friday night. Perhaps my absence will bring good weather for those of you who do make the journey.

    Re: Mods meetup

I see there have been some minor alterations to the schedule,

"The return working timings have been 'tweaked' slightly to ensure adequate water for the locos is available.
So, there is a short stop at Appleby for water to be taken on from the column there (passengers please note, do not alight here, this is a short stop and the train will need to be drawn forward to water the second loco once the pilot has been filled) and the stop at Hellifield has been abandoned in favour of a stop at Chatburn for water..."

Weather forecast for the area tomorrow is cold and clear, temperatures tonight down to -5C.

Cold and clear it is - those pretty blue lights from the fire engines woke me.

If the snowy tops are the same oop north it might be worth the camera brigade setting out - I need to get the smell of smoke off me - just thank goodness its not my property - but yeugh - not the way to start anyone's weekend - at least its a no casualty affair, animal or human

Nice video from Horwich and thanks for sharing that.

I forgot to set the alarm last night so I missed the tour this morning, I was intending to see it at Horwich Parkway...

Wow! The loco exhaust swirling and hanging in the air was amazing. :clap2:
