So not a 'train' then but a LE if I read all the above correctly? That might limit the damage a bit - but 129 tonnes at 50mph? can wreak plenty of havoc on its own.

Looks like it's a long way from where it should be - let's hope there's not TOO much track damage. Some of us need to get through there early tomorrow morning. Hope it hasn't affected any loco/stock movements either.

If they can get the fast lines open tonight (ie the two lines mentioned) then i'd still be confident the tour will run, as the 86 is booked the fast line for 95% of the run to Crewe anyway, and if needbe the ECS can be sent through in the dead of night when theres nothing else about.

Other way round I think. Why towed though is a good question unless Willesden need to give a quick once over before it run under its own pantograph.

Read the caption to the picture further down the page. 86259 was at Washwood Heath for a repaint.

Oh, I wonder whats that about as it doesn't make sense to drag it Willesden and back. Perhaps its mis-reported, ditto the photo. Perhaps it will be Sulzer power to Preston then.

Sorry, just re-read the caption which says the same as the text. It was reported on various gen groups as moving south.

It must be an error, if you google 47749 86259 you will find a u tube video of a spotless 86 being pushed out of wash wood Heath and heading south by 47749...
it could have always gone direct to willesden turned around and gone back again.. But I wouldn't be placing abet on that.

And there was me thinking that Bletchley was South of Milton Keynes.....:confused1: But never mind as long as the train runs.

Great news, off to stock up on snacks for the train and also dig out gloves, thick socks and hat.
