Torbay Express Season 2012

The operating dates for the Torbay Express 2012 season will be:- Sunday 1st, 8th, 15th & 22nd July5th & 19th August2nd, 9th & 16th September

Dates are up now I wonder what the locomotives will be the list on the website includes the king but we all know that wont be happening.

I'd of thought 71000 would be a shoe in for the Main Loco now 6024 will be unavailible, probably a couple of appearances by 60163 too.

 

Uksteam shows 71000 70000 and another TBA so seems your correct on that one I'll never tire of seeing 71000 fantastic loco being from Exeter I always look forward to the Torbay Express

 

71000 has put is some exceptional performances on the TE and is always a pleasure to travel behind. It will also be nice to have run with 70000 and see how it compares with the other class 7’s used in the past (34067 and 5051).

Its nice to see prices have remained stable and children are just £49, a good move even though a family ticket would be nice, still well done TEX for listening to the comments last year and not putting prices up. I had heard rumours that they were considering changes to the timetable but with the provisional times as last year it looks like they will be sticking with the same path, which I think is a good move. Looking forwards to the summer.

 

It would be cool if the TBA goes to 6023 King Edward II, if the locomotive is ready.
I also think that it is cool that the Tamar Devonian with 70000 & 71000 has been inserted into the week that the regular Torbay Express is not running. Saturday, July 28th is the day for that one.

 

Am i right in thinking 6023 is Vac only ?.

Clan Lines something of a suprise i must admit, but be nice to see it away from the south east & VSOE for once.

 

35028 is on duty, wow. I think I might find an excuse to be in Bristol on a Sunday!

 

Living at t'Warren 35028 on Torbay(s) is very good news. One of my fav Merchants as a spotter at Clapham J /70A / Waterloo.

I wonder if this venture works for the excellent support crew whether 35028 may venture out on other workings at some point.
Last year 4 of us(family) went with Clan Line on the VSOE--worth every penny!

 

That is really going to be a cool poole of locomotives out of Bristol next summer.
35028 a locomotive that really doesn't stray away from the London area for trips like these in the Summer
70000 a locomotive in a new paint scheme and a white roof
71000, yes a shoe in but the only mainline steam locomotive today with Capprioti Valve gear

 

According the Steam Beano, the cab roof will be repainted black after 2 or 3 tours. A white roof looks neat, but is probably the definition of "high maintenance"!

 

She carried a white roof for quite a while under her previous ownership but I agree that it would soon show the dirt.

 

Wow. It was worth doing that loft conversion. From our new loft-lounge I will have an uninterrupted view of these fine machines as they emerge from the rock cutting onto Broadsands viaduct all the way until they disappear round the curve onto Hookhills viaduct. At the closest point they will be 6 ft from the hedge at the bottom of the garden!! "Armchair enthusiast" in the extreme! Giz a wave!!

 

Whilst your at it, Build a balcony that sticks you even further out! Could expect a movie to be filmed from there! :eyebrows:
